Between that and Dexter Green's Peach Bowl, LaFester Rhoades "going off" over Iowa and Cael Sanderson's 162-0, that is.
Edited to add: How about Kelly Goodburn walking on when all three of our punters broke their leg in 1982/83? If I recall correctly, Criner? asked for students to audition, and this yahoo from 8th floor Storms, Goodburn's first punt went 69 yards. Too much alcohol has afflicted my memory. Hey, we don't agree on much on the political threads...but I'm right with you on this topic brother!

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes. -

A buddy of mine and I had a run in with him outside the Cave Inn. The guy was a total *******! I wonder how many other "run ins" he had while at ISU. We always used to joke that the team couldn't hit anybody during the games because they were too tired from hitting other students during the week.

It was frigid but we won the game 15-10 as I recall. OSU was definitely in the to 10! The field was like a sheet of ice when we ran on it after the game. How about the 23-23 tie with Nebraska in 72. This is my first memory of ISU football. Goedjan's (sp) only PAT miss during his career or we win outright. I also remember seeing a play in the mid 70's that i've never seen since. I think it was Okie St. I don't remember if it was Luther Blue, or somebody else, but it was on a punt return or kickoff. Luther broke to outside and was screaming down the OSU sideline heading for a sure touchdown when a player came off the bench and ran on to field and made the tackle. I don't think he even had his head gear on. I also think the officials gave us the touchdown. Maybe someone else can elaborate.

We had 5 in a row over KU during the Tinsley (LE) era. If I remember correctly, during the postgame interview JT was asked what it was like to play in Phog Allen, to which he replied "It's just another gym."

Do you ever get the feeling that this special teams gaffe has haunted us on special teams ever since?

After reading Johnny Majors a****iography, I think that game, and Cliff Branch running all over the field in a 61-10 loss, were the two biggest things from his time at ISU that stung him. They had stayed with him for over 25 years at that point, and I am sure that he never forgot them.

I worked the stands that game for ROTC. I was dragging a frickin' load of "ice cold sodas". My buddy and I made some sheets of paper that said "Mixer For Your Booze" and pinned them on our chest and back.... Still didn't sell anything.
