Yeah, that pretty much makes sense, but my guess is the game will be within 10 either way.

We finally get the advantage of having this game at home. I think the players will be excited to be back home after an excrutiating road trip. ISU will once again beat the spread that labels them the underdog.

Deep within the heart of Iowa, a storm is brewing...
... the winds of change ripple throughout the vast fields of corn surrounding the small college town of Ames.

The Gene Chizik era of football continues, and, with it, a renewed attitude of pride, determination, and success.

This is Cyclone Football.

I think it could be a close game. Chizik should want this game pretty bad and so should the players. Call it our "Second Superbowl".....

Chizik: "One thing that I’d encourage our fans…I want them to be the loudest stadium in the Big 12. I don’t care…I want Jack Trice stadium to be the loudest in the Big 12 and I think that creates homefield advantage.... I want to stress to everyone…I want this place to be juiced up. They bought 36,000 season tickets so there is a passion there…don’t hide it…let it out. I want there to be a passion in the stadium."

I think how much a coach "wants" a game is really overrated. It isn't like he can suit up and play quarterback or wide-receiver or fill-in on the offensive line. There is really very little he can do for any particular individual game. Its all up to the players, period.

Texas just lost 2 straight. I can't say I'm looking forward to this game as Texas will be trying to get-right in this game - making a statement.

I await the expected Debbie-Downer responses...

I think that is a pretty reasonable spread. My lock of the week is Illinois -3.5 over Iowa.

How in the HELL is that spread only -3.5?

Brown's seat is a little warm again - regardless of his success. UT will be fired up - as they have several 10 win season streak on the line.

It'll be close, mainly because the Horns aren't very impressive - but I don't think they'll leave Ames with a loss.

Yeah that Illinois spread really shocks me too, you will see it go up during the week. I mean they were favorites at home over WI and now this after beating them?

i typically don't bet on teams from this state.

but I would take TX to cover and Iowa to beat the spread.

I see Iowa winning Saturday.

I dunno, I'm probably the opposite on that one.

I can see Iowa winning, but I wouldn't bet on it.

However, Texas has been struggling against weaker competition (supposedly weaker), and while I know ISU isn't a KSU right now, I do think they can give the Horns a run for their money.

Iowa does not have what it takes to beat Illinois.

Sadly, as of now, I'd agree. I could see it changing, but this team hasn't given any reason why they should beat a fired up Illannoy team.

I actually was thinking the spread would be bigger, even though Texas has lost 2 in a row. Texas vs 1-5 ISU, makes me think bigger spread.

I am just happy we get to go to a game again. I feel removed from the team when they go on long road stretches. I think this is about the longest I have ever gone without seeing an ISU football game in the fall.
