When is it time for youth movement?

When is the time for Arnaud and Bates to take over at QB and I State to look towards next season? Not sure, but I'm ready to look ahead. I hope we keep all the players who haven't played in redshirt status. We know this will take time, and maybe the time has come to build.

Whenever they outplay Meyer in Practice. Until that time, they are not #1.

Hard to tell, any time now would work, we dont exactly have an easy stretch from here on out, Kansas, K State and Mizzou are playing like they want a national championship Texas is struggling but still good, OU is good... Chizik could pull the string anyday now.

33 Had a question for you... Did they keep AA out this weekend just so he doesn't tweak that ankle more, or is it more severe then day to day??

Maybe Meyer is playing great in practice, but in the games he is NOT playing well. It is time to get the two kids some PT and not just one series here and there, let them play. ISU is already loosing 42-17 (really was 42-3), its not like Meyer is keeping them in the games.

If they don't start playing now and go through their bumps and bruises now, expect the same thing next season.

Arnauds foot is hurt, its not his ankle... and yes they want him to keep him off of it to prevent it from getting bumped again, he should be good to go this weekend

Re: When is it time for youth movement?

I hope we see Bates/Arnaud utilized as a QB this week, both getting chances to throw the ball. Bates needs to be used at QB with something else other than a QB power run play for a loss.

Chizik: "One thing that I’d encourage our fans…I want them to be the loudest stadium in the Big 12. I don’t care…I want Jack Trice stadium to be the loudest in the Big 12 and I think that creates homefield advantage.... I want to stress to everyone…I want this place to be juiced up. They bought 36,000 season tickets so there is a passion there…don’t hide it…let it out. I want there to be a passion in the stadium."

I think around 2008 will be just fine.

Seriously, what message does it send the team when you stop putting your best players on the field?

Meyer has done NOTHING to warrant being pulled. There is no reason to put your second best players on the field when you're trying to win games.

Re: When is it time for youth movement?

While I think right now Meyer may as well lead us through this gauntlet, it's not true to say he's done nothing to warrant getting benched. He really hasn't looked that great all year. Only solid game was against Iowa, otherwise he's been average or much of the time - below average.

We could get the same type of play from our redshirt freshman (Arnaud) or even our true freshman (Bates). I feel very confident saying that. If correct, that is really bad - those two being the same caliber as a senior 4-year starter.

The big reason ya don't play Arnaud - is to keep him from getting killed and mentally set back, something I feel happened to Meyer in 2006.

You aim to win each game. Each game you put the players on the field that give you the best chance of winning the game. In my opinion there are no other considerations.

I have to agree. I've been on the Meyer bandwagen since the start of the season, but let's face the facts. His interceptions were key to our loses in at least three games this season. Whether or not they were all his fault, he has not looked like a four year starter other than the Iowa game. With Arnad hurt, the question is, is Bates ready for the likes of Texas etc.? If he is, time to give someone else a chance.

Re: When is it time for youth movement?

All I have to say is its not going to hurt us one way or another to start playing the players who will be counted on next season because what we are doing right now sure as hell isn't winning us any games and I can't see that getting any better with the teams we have left to play.
