Am I wrong, or is this what role Stevie Johnson played at one time? (Can't remember if he started senior season or came off the bench.) Earlier in his career he came off the bench some, but he really kind of came out of nowhere his senior year to start and play almost every minute several games for our elite eight team.

Re: Who else is ready for mens bball 07 to start
I've been jonesin' for MBB since about a month after the last season ended.
In my mind, the key to success is clearly the front court. The guards are young and inexperienced, but have a lot of raw talent. How quickly will they mature and learn McDermott's "complex" system? How will they handle the physical play and rigors of the Big XII season? Will someone step up and be a go-to guy when we need a big 3-pt shot (Taylor's role last season)? Will they be able to get the ball up the court and get the offense started against pressure defense?
That said, I'm optimistic that we'll get some good answers to these questions. There will be some ups and downs, I'm sure, but by the end of the season, we should be a much better team than we were at the end of this one. And next year, look out!

Who am I thinking of that went from starter to sixth man for us unselfishly? Or am I getting old?

Re: Who else is ready for mens bball 07 to start
Anyone heard anything more on the Steiger "rumors"? The thought of losing him is unbearable, but it seems that ISU traditionally has bad luck in these sorts of things. I really like him and believe that he could be a big contributor before the year is over. Woops, I just saw the other thread.

Re: Who else is ready for mens bball 07 to start
Stevie started 29 of 30 games his Junior year and he averaged 8.1 points and 7.6 rebs. In fact he started 78 of the 95 games he played in from his sophomore-senior year.

Where'd you find that? I was looking all over for some stats from those years. Maybe I'm thinking of position...I swore Stevie was finally moved down to the block full time his senior year. Wasn't he a 3 before that? My first year at ISU was his senior year and I lived in SE Iowa where our newspaper was the Burlington Hawkeye, so we really didn't get much info other than when we'd come up for a game or two each year.

I was looking for the ISU Encyclopedia that used to be on cyclones.com. It wasn't where it used to be since they revamped the site. That thing is great. It has all the stats/info you want. Anyone know where to find it now??

If you go to the MBB page, toward the bottom right there is a picture of the cover of the 2007 media guide - click on that and you can peruse the guide.
