Nate Frere starting DT
Im a lil surprised to see him starting. I knew he was gonna play, but starting? I thought they would start Braaksma, then platoon in Frere and Rubin. I can't wait to see all the newbies playin. I m goonna have to make a cheat sheet of new names and numbers, so i know who's who while im incoherant Thurs. night.

Frere is a better fit at NT. He gives us more size.
Don't confuse hope for a plan. -
It worries me because with Frere and Parker, we're looking at two true freshman starting on the defensive line. The fact that Rubin hasn't taken ahold of this spot and really set himself apart is a bad sign in my opinion.
On a good note though, I love four year starters, and we'll get to watch Frere and Parker a lot over the next four then.

I know Stephon Dale is suspended for the first game, but last year I remember DM saying he could be a four year starter. Will he be a factor after this week or has he fallen off the radar?

Who is Stephon Dale? http://scoreboards.aol.com/football/...team_news.aspx Stephon Dale DL, #94
Ht/Wt: 6-3, 255 Hometown: Fort Myers, Florida
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -
It would be a worse sign if Rubin was Starting

Rubin missed about 3 weeks of camp. He only started practicing a week ago. If Rubin had jumped into the starting position from the get go I'd be a heck of a lot more concerned because that would say the other guys at that position were absolute crap.
The reality is Rubin will probably take a couple weeks to get his conditioning up to par and learn the defense. I'm concerned with having two freshman start on the d-line, but ISU has had pretty good success starting true freshman in Leaders & Curvey.

Rubin has been practicing all of a week at a position he hasn't played for a year and you want him to assert himself? In addition to that, he came in out of shape. Give him a little time. I swear, some of you people LOOK for bad signs.

Rubin needs to get in game shape. Once he does, I will be surprised if he isn't starting NG. Remember OLine was new to him last year. DL is where he has always played. It is amazing that someone would see a player not starting and make that commnet. My guess if even if he has siezed it Mac wouldn't start him b/c it was his responsiblity to get his classes done so he could be here on time

That's a good point AlanAldaClone, you're probably right. You just tell us all how to think and we'll just get right in line.
Perhaps I should say that I am concerned because had you told me Frere would start prior to this week, I would have laughed. We've heard nothing outsideside of Braaksma, and Dale heading into the Fall and once we got here I still didn't hear anything about Frere.
If you want to say you prognosticated Frere as the starting NT, you're full of crap.

Mac has been raving about Frere since he came on campus. Getty has been raving about Frere since he came on campus. YOU haven't heard anything about Frere, so he must stink. OK, I guess.
