Al Gore; Nobel Laureate, and President

I don't see Gore being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize and find a presidential candidacy to be a long-shot at best.

Re: Al Gore; Nobel Laureate, and President

What is an Al Gore endorsement worth? Would it propel one of the Democratic nominees?

Not unless he endorses Hilary and then goes out and sacrifices puppies to Satan in the middle of Times Square.

As Ronald Reagan would say, "There you go again, alaskaguy!"

Try something else in your Gore bashing repertoire.

This is absolutely hilarious. I take back what I said about Hillary.....well, no I don't. Al is a close second in terms of people I will campaign against.

I like snopes.com and use it often, but this one is a bit off. "Create" is not that far off from "invent", and the internet had been both invented and created 20 years before Al Gore sponsored a bill related to it. The bill he is talking about did help make it more wide spread, so there is something too the statement. Unfortunately, Gore has been very prone to making inaccurate self-serving statements, and it likely cost him the presidency in 2000.

I read that too, and I agree. True, he said create, and that is technically different than invent, but it is still a self serving exaggeration.

All they need in that draft Gore campaign ad is a picture of Al, with some nice backlighting to make him appear divine, with glassy eyed liberals falling down to kiss his feet. Then it would be complete.

I could not have created a funnier piece of political satire than that.

No. The media, at the behest of Bush & Rove, reported non-stop on so called "inaccurate self-serving statements" that weren't any worse than anything that Bush or any other politician does or says.

Much like the Kerry "flip-flopper" memo, where, at the Bush media team's lead, the media to report everything Kerry does as a "flip-flop" while ignoring any of Bush's prior statements he's changed ("No nation building ever" anyone?)

Well, you changed the subject, but it is true that Bush has flip-flopped on major issues:

Your example of no nation building turning into nation building being at the core of his presidency is a good one. Another good one is going from being absolutely squarely against Joe Lieberman's idea of a new Department of Homeland Security to creating the largest new government bureaucracy of our generation.

None of that changes the fact that Al Gore tends to make inaccurate self-serving statements

Another point is that the most likely reason "invented the internet" stuck rather than "created the internet" is that it alliterates: Invented the Internet. Is there any liberal English major around here that is well-versed in oral traditions? If so, please back me up!

My point was that Gore's "exaggerations" were just as much of a Bush campaign creation as Kerry's "flip-flopping". All politicians exaggerate their influence, including Bush (Mission Accomplished, for example. Or coming out every week with "progress" in Iraq.)
