Re: Jack Elway considering ISU
And lots of donor money. Elway Sr. is not a poor man. He made/makes tons of money outside of football. At one time, he owned the biggest chain of car dealerships in the Denver area

Re: Jack Elway considering ISU
It would be way cool to have John coming to all out games. -
Re: Jack Elway considering ISU
I was kind of excited with the prospect of Michael Jordan's son playing here, with the attention that would bring, but I think our football program needs that kind of attention way more than basketball. -
Re: Jack Elway considering ISU
think about recruiting after elway comes imagine the chance to meet and talk shop with john elway

Re: Jack Elway considering ISU
Chizik really needs to sell ISU to recruits as.. "hey, you're a decent player? Immediate starting/playing time, right here."

Maybe loose to Cal in 2010 while one of their players knocks out a clarinet this time. lol

We are about equal football teams, but Stanford is pretty much the best academic college in the country-- yes better than Harvard, NWern, Princeton, Yale, Duke, etc.

Re: Jack Elway considering ISU
ESPN - John Elway back on the field, serving as son's quarterback coach - NFL
Here is the link that list the "other" 4 schools on his list that were scrolling along ESPN's bottom line last night.
IMO right now it does not matter who we get to commit to us and how many people we have at said position we just need athletes. I have faith in our new staff that if they recruit a guy they a position in mind for them whether we have 10 people at one position or just 2. They have to have a goal in mind, if I don't see that in a few years then I will complain.
Just like I think Bates was brought here with the intent to compete for the QB position but we are using him as a receiver/slash guy with the intentions of getting him to like the position and the playing time so he will be happy being a play maker. I could be way off but that is the way it seems to me.

Re: Jack Elway considering ISU
I think (Jack) Elway coming to Ames could be realistic. Why do you think he would even consider ISU to those other "storied" universities? It has to be (among the fact), that as a top 25 QB in the nation, he would have no problem securing a starting position here. Not to mention the coverage he'd receive. Whereas if he went on to one of the other Nat'l powers... (yea) he might have some competition for that job. (IMO)
