Re: ISU vs Texas Post-Game Analysis

TulsaCy-

See Kentucky as an example. They are in the most dominant conference in the country. The SEC has arguably been the best conference over the last decade and what has Kentucky done? Well last night they knocked off #1 and will be a top 10 team again next week.

Kentucky I know has had more tradition than ISU (not much) but they are in a similar situation as ISU. They have another BCS conference school in their state (Louisville) and still they seem to win. They are considered a basketball school and yet they are on the rise in football. Is the difference from a recruiting standpoint between ISU and Kentucky the weather?

Let's give this staff a little time to see what they can do with some of their recruits and from learning with a year on the job. (I hope it does not end up with Alford like learning on the job though. These guys do not seem that arrogant.)

Re: ISU vs Texas Post-Game Analysis

To me, this loss does not fall only on the players. This is a brand new staff and they are going to make mistakes. I don't understand why some of you will sell out each and every player to deflect critism from the coaching staff. I just don't get it.

That being said, I really think we did some good things in the first quarter and 1/2 of the 2nd. We moved the ball well only to have Shaggy miss another 30 yard field goal. Another drive we moved the ball inside the 10 yard line with ease. Scales looked really good early on. Notsomuch later on.

This is where I think the coaching staff needs to take a little heat. First down on the 15 yard line and we throw an incomplete pass. 2nd down, run for not many. 3rd, run again for not many. 4th, settle for a field goal attempt. This team is not going to win another game by just kicking field goals, we need touchdowns. So why not at least give our guys a chance to score one?

I've already found my inner peace that this season is done and hopefully the rest of the year can be used as a learning experience for both players and coaches. That being said, I'll still be at the remaining games cheering my heart out.

Just had to bump this...amusing to read just how far the team and the fans have come in a few weeks since this debacle.
