Is it any wonder ISU is going after QBs?

Meyer is terrible, but must be clearly the best ISU has. He managed to get in his weekly pick six today, missed open guys and threw several uncatachable balls. He has no arm at all. I watch other QBs throw 35 yard passes on a rope and Meyer floats out patterns like an 8th grader.

his vision, or lack there of, is what disappoints me most

We all remember making fun of our little brother. And then that day came when you looked at him and thought "Crap, when did he become taller than me?" There comes a time when you just know your time has passed and it's their spotlight now.

I wouldn't read too much into it. Realistically we had zero chance to win this game today, why through Arnaud or Bates to the wolves? You have to carefully develop young QB's more times than not. Ruining their confidence is not carefully developing them. I still think that Arnaud should of had more chances to throw the ball at the end of the game.

IMO Flynn's QB skills were severely damaged by his freshman campaign, and so was Meyer's last year. I am not saying Meyer was ever a great QB. (In fact, I still believe Flynn was a scapegoat, and never got a fair shake.

I think everyone agrees Flynn did not get a fair shake. That is not really up for debate. He did turn out to be the best receiver ISU has had since Danielson.

How much did Arnaud play? Did he do okay? I fell asleep at the end of the 3rd quarter . . . woke up to see him play a 3 and out series . . . then couldn't get interested enough to stay awake until the next time the offense had the ball.

He played the entire 4th didn't he? It sounded like it from the ride home.

It is possible that they are holding them back for some reason. However, my guess is that if either Arnaud or Bates was a better QB than Meyer right now, then that person would be starting. Since Meyer is not good, I cannot be too optimistic about his backups.

I agree that Chizik is playing the best QB right now, but that isn't saying a lot. Arnaud may not be the QB of the future. Bates is fast, athletic and may be better suited at another position. We have a good one coming in next year. Could be interesting.

Agreed. Next year's QB may not be here right now.

One thing I liked about Arnaud is the velocity he threw with. You can't coach that.

AA had much more zip on his balls and his delivery was far quicker than BM. On 1 throw - 1 of many Blythe drops - the ball hit him fast and in stride --- and obviously suprised Blythe...

Thanks I needed a laugh after a six hour drive and seeing the 'game'.

the one i could have picked off for a touchdown, right at the snap he looked at the receiver took a 3 or 5 step drop never takin his eye of the receiver and didn't even bullet the pass there, kinda threw it half assed.

It was almost like he knew he was going to get pulled soon, so he had to make sure he got his pick 6 in for the week.

One other pass from Meyer looked like a sure pic for a touchdown, but the Texas DB slipped and fell down. It was there for the taking.
