What name do you prefer? (Cyclones)

Trying to get a feel of what everyone would rather our team be identified as?

I see in posts ISU, Iowa State, and I-State.

I voted for Iowa State, the I-State on our helmets are not what we will be "identified" it should still be Iowa State. It is the same as the old baseball hats that just had a simple Cardinal I on them similar to the Gold I that Iowa uses. The I in I state stands for Iowa why are people having such a hard time figuring this out. (Not saying you Chad, just people like to act like we all have to run around saying Eye State.)

This is a public poll so you can see what others think. I am personally having problems when I read I-State in posts.

Is change that hard?

Once it is on our helmets, the media will call us I-State just like Kansas State is K-State.

Just another way to identify us IMO it is really NBD. I think we are going to hear all of them from here on out. Just seems like we keep reheating the same eggs over and over, change shouldn't be that hard for us by now. Now I have to TXT my BFF Rose.

I agree. "I" could stand for a number of states. I would be a bit more comfortable with "Ia State" or something like that (like ISU's internet domain address: iastate.edu).

when is this arguement going to die...it has no basis. unless, 42, you honestly can say you think of kentucky state when you see KState then you have no basis for your arguement.

42 does have a point. The majority of the Cyclone family that has voted in this prefer the ISU or Iowa State.

And how can you compare Kansas State in a BCS conference against Kentucky State (a black liberal arts school)?

But to make this argument valid the only one that wouldn't let to confusion on a national basis would be "Iowa State" because ISU can have just as many meanings as I-State with a few other universities. It will just take time and some success to be the one that is recognized first.

It is being stated as that from the ADept. But it is being typed on posts and as I stated earlier, the media will start using it.

As long as the university is called Iowa State University (of Science and Technology), we will always automatically be Iowa State and ISU. The poll is thus a bit of a false choice.

However, I voted for I-State because I think it is a great logo for a national identity. It doesn't mean that we stop being Iowa State or ISU, it's just a promotional tool.

Also, regarding potential confusion. While there are other schools that could potentially be I-State, there is currently no school that uses I-State. It is there for the taking and I think Pollard was very smart to claim it.

this is exactly the point i am making. how do you compare them? yet people are doing it. i agree its tough to compare those 2...but, coming from JPs mouth, we, yes Iowa State, are currently confused with such schools as Idaho State and Indiana State. so obviously the general public is not as intelligent as we all hope they are. this is why JP wants to claim IState as ours, right now as our athletic dept can only go up, and then a few years from now we will be recognized and respected as IState. something we wil never share with any BCS or non-BCS school.

I don't think our identity will necessarily change with the new logo unless the Athletic Department is actively trying to make the change and I'm not totally sure they are. I haven't noticed too many people referring to "O State" and they have almost the exact same logo.

I prefer the local media just refer to us as STATE... From reading what Pollard has said I think thats what he wants too...
