Re: 50 years...no more
Quitters never win.
But, they tried for almost 50 years. But...clearly they don't understand what's going on right now.

Who better to judge what's going on than someone who's been at almost every game for the last 48 years. I don't agree with it, but, I can easily understand, "I've seen every coaching change, I've listened to every promise, I've seen almost every game, and now here we go again. Another ISU team getting smacked in the face and spit on by the big guys in the league." Hell, I commend the guy for sticking it out this long.

Sometimes you just have to give up, say it is over and move on. If you have been an ISU fan for 50 years and you want to quit so you can enjoy things more, I say do it.
I know if the last 30 years keeps up for the next 20, I will quit, and just enjoy my saturdays in the fall.

Re: 50 years...no more
If the only way you can enjoy going to an Iowa State football game is the W, you're going to the wrong event. The tailgating, the feeling of seeing other cars with ISU logos on the road with you, the fight song and pride you feel, and cardinal and gold clothes...I love it all. The W is great, but there's a lot more to it all than that for me! I think those comments are sad, but not for the reason they gave. It's been ALL worth it for me, win or lose.

Re: 50 years...no more
No, it is not that they need a win, they just need to compete. I have seen 1 game this year that was actually worth the ticket price. The others, I would have had more fun staying outside and just drinking a few more. I am not saying I won't be happy until we win 8 or 9 games, I won't be happy until we can compete with people.

Re: 50 years...no more
Tickets will have to be cheaper next year, No Iowa, No Texas, and No OU.

Re: 50 years...no more
Hey people...tickets won't be cheaper next year. If anything they'll be a tad more...and guess what? We will still sell as many or more season tickets. It's true...whether you want to believe it or not.

Seems to me we've competed with every team we've played except Texas. Even the Nebraska game could have swung either way. And by the looks of things, most other D-1 teams get blown out on occasion. Look at Notre Dame, Iowa, Nebraska..I could go on. So to say we haven't competited this season is baloney.

Re: 50 years...no more
What I'm not getting about this thread is the bash on "negativity." I don't think we should be negative either, this is a process, but I am still ****** off that my team got destroyed yesterday. Yesterday sucked, and I don't think next year changes that. It is better than knowing we will keep sucking, but I would still like to see us do better. That is a totally different topic than whether I will buy tickets or support the team.
I always support the team, but I hate seeing get our %^&%* kicked.

The price hike and to-be long rebuilding process are killing my drive, literally.

I always support the team, but I hate seeing get our %^&%* kicked. Face the facts, the state of Texas has the best players in the nation. Univ. of Texas get the best of the best, and the second best of the best. Those players were bigger and faster than us. This takes nothing away from our guys, it's a fact. Until we get bigger and faster, it will be tough to compete with a team like that if they are well coached. Our DB's had to give lots of space, if they played up, they would get out run. And we all saw that happen. I give our guys credit for effort. Texas blows out a lot of teams. Chizik will remedy that, but it will take time with weights, strenght and speed training and more players. No one hates a blowout more than the players. You have a right to not like it, but let's cut our guys some slack. It was just as bad last year.

Speaking of ticket prices, don't forget next year you are going to have to make sure you donate the appropriate $$ to stay in your seats. Reseating is next year.

Re: 50 years...no more
Tickets will probably be cheaper next season because we have one less home game.

They have you hook, line, and sinker if you think we competed with Texas Tech.
We have been blown out 3 games in a row, and Nebraska is a bad team.

Ohio State - $413
Iowa - $282 (6 games)
Kansas - $275
Baylor - $225
Cal - $235 (6 games)
S. Florida - $202 (6 games)
Kentucky - $248 (8 games!)
On that list, only Ohio State has higher ticket prices than we do. So I really don't blame anyone who doesn't want to pay that kind of money for that kind of product. You do understand that in addition to the ticket price most of the quality programs (Texas for example) and certainly Ohio State on your list (and maybe even Iowa) require a minimum contribution to their athletic fundraising foundation just for the privilege of buying the season ticket...don't you?
LSU's face value on their season tickets say $45. However, if you didn't pay a fee to the TAF (Tiger Athletic Foundation)...you best watch out for low flying planes as you sit in your seat!

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.
