Question Question: On Campus interviewing...

Fellow Cyclone Fanatics, unfortunately I have not been back on campus for over twenty years, so asking how things work today when it comes to organizations coming on campus to interview. My son is on campus with an organization, Pine Cove Christain Camps, this week recruiting/ attempting to interview ISU students that might want to spend the summer in Texas working at a summer camp for grades 1-12 and families. They employ over 700 college students from major universities from around the US every summer. They get a lot from a number of the other Big Xll schools like KSU, KU, UN, Mizzo, etc., and are now trying to make inroads at ISU. They are set up in the Memorial Union and my son just called here at noon and said they are not really seeing or being able to talk with any students. Is this the best place to be stationed? What avenues exist to get the word out? Any insight would be appreciated... Thanks!

I would recommend contacting the university on this matter.

They did, that's who set them up in the MU. Guess I am asking what informal routes might exist/be available to get the word out among students or if there is a "christain community" to reach...

Who goes to the MU?

I had to do an on campus recruiting thing last year for my company. We were in one of the new engineering buildings. I maybe talked to 5 people all day, it was a total waste of time.

Re: Question: On Campus interviewing...

Sounds like the same thing is happening today for my son at the union. I told him that when I was there in '76-'80, I and no one I knew hardly ever went to the Union.
Anyway, that's why I'm asking to see if I can help him/them get some exposure since they made the trip all the way from Texas.

If it were nice out, I would say set up their materials somewhere on center campus.

Re: Question: On Campus interviewing...

Good suggestion, thank you. Will pass along as they will be back on campus thursday or friday after going to UI and UNI so if it's nice out, maybe that might work.

Can they set up in the new food court area by Friley/Helser? There would be a good chunk of students there, especially during breakfast and lunch hours.

EDIT: There are a couple Christian based fraternities on campus as well. He should talk to the Greeek affairs office on campus to see if they can do dinner announcements at the sororities/fraternities. If you want their info PM me.

My avatar is a pic I took from my phone camera at the spring game. Gotta love Cy on a bike.

There is always the "Free Speech Zone," just south of the Parks Library. It is the only place on campus where you can say what you really feel without permission

Seriously, if it ever stops raining, that is probably the best spot to reach more students.

I'd try to go through the student clubs. The Salt Company I know is fairly big at ISU. On the ISU website, under Student Clubs, there is a link for religious clubs:

Student Organizations : Welcome

Speaking in front of one or more of the Christian clubs would be the right audience.

Do or do not, there is no try .....Yoda
