Putin is buddying up to Ahmadinejad, saying Iran should have nuclear power for peaceful purposes. I would agree that they should be allowed to have nuclear power, but does anyone actually trust these guys to keep it for peaceful purposes? I mean, that's like giving a knife to Charles Manson and saying he can only butter bread with it.
Putin is such a terrible leader, his only policy is to act in the opposite of USA/UK. That is all he has, and that keeps in power with the 'old guard' in Russia.
I see him as a paper tiger... meaning he has to say this stuff but knows he can't support in any other way.

Russia has been assisting Iran with their nuclear program for about 15 years, so this is rather old news. Putin is just reiterating what he has said many times in the past.
Trivia question: What country originally helped Iran start their nuclear program?

Wasn't Iran's nuclear program started when the Shah of Iran was in power? If that is the case, I'm assuming that the US helped Iran start their nuclear program.
Russia and Putin are making noise in about the only way they can. I agree that they are a paper tiger, and their only influence on the world stage is to help block other countries from creating stability.
