I don't know, Libya hasn't caused to many problems recently.
Whether that is due to our invasion of Iraq or not is debatable.

Coalitions are used to legitimize the cost of what would other wise be viewed as unilateralism.
In Desert Storm 1, Saudi Arabia funded much of the operation. Unfortunately a similar situation does not exist in Iraq.

However, do you take your local street thug and put him on the city council a year after he cleans up his act under threat of an *ss whooping? I think not. |

As embarrassing as the UN is, from time to time, it serves two major purposes that make it seem worthwhile. First, the UN can be counted on to show the public that great bunches of these countries are crewed and led by raving lunatics/idiots.
Second, and more importantly, it is a good indirect line of diplomacy. That's why "we" created it in the first place.
Of course, as a governing body they are irrelevant. It was made that way on purpose.
