Color Rules Days
I wanted to post this earlier this week but forgot.
Can we stop embarrassing ourselves and just eliminate the Color Rules Days? It's quite obvious from the color of the stadium this past Saturday that our fans don't like to be told what color to wear. Heck, I think the most consistent color pattern was orange in the southwest corner of the stadium.
I'm sick of seeing other schools successfully do these *INSERT COLOR HERE*-outs. We suck at it, so why don't we just drop it? And don't give me the story, "Well, no one owns that color." I'm sure that the fans of the schools that successfully do these things don't own every color at first either. Drop the $10 to get a shirt with a color of your team. It's not like you can't wear it down the line somwhere else.
The campaign starts now. November 6, 2012. -
Re: Color Rules Days
Yes please. I know I am done with the "color" days, from now on, I am just wearing my jersey.

Re: Color Rules Days
I don't believe they were selling gold ponchos. that could have been some of the problem.

I thought the Cardinal Rules looked Ok. The Gold Rules will probably never be successful.

Re: Color Rules Days
I like the color days.
I thought the Cardinal rules day went well. The reason why the golden rules day didn't go well was because everyone had jackets or rain gear on. I know I did and I don't have a yellow jacket but have plenty of red jackets. Had it been a warm day it would have gone better.
Besides there is only one color for Texas and that is **** brown, what other color are they going to wear?

Re: Color Rules Days
I think the effort is aimed at getting people to actually wear cardinal or gold (or red or yellow or whatever).
Maybe it's just me, but it drives me nuts to see people show up wearing black, blue, green - whatever. A thousand people wearing their HS apparel, I don't know how many sweatshirts or hats from OTHER schools I see each week. Heck, 3 guys walked by me last week wearing Cubs apparel.
We're cardinal and gold people (or red or yellow). It's not that hard. Go to Target, find a red sweatshirt for $20 and wear the dang thing.
I've heard so many people talk about the "sea of red" at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln. Know why there's a sea of red? Try and find something Husker that isn't red or white (maybe grey). People there know what color they are and they wear it. The AD knows what color they are and that's what they sell.
I believe JP is doing this for two reasons. Trying to reach the lost souls who DON'T know what our colors are and revenue by putting a product out there. Step three is getting rid of that freakin' navy in the unis.
Heck, look in the pic in Brianhos's sig line. Aside from he and Cy, how much cardinal and gold do you see?

Re: Color Rules Days
It looked like an orange out in parts of the stadium. What color does red and yellow produce when mixed?
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -
Re: Color Rules Days
Red is fine, I would have worn my Gold T-shirt, but it was hidden under a red sweatshirt, under a black garbage bag.

Re: Color Rules Days
I agree that weather hampered the "gold-out." Holding it earlier in the season worked, like last year: -
Re: Color Rules Days
That is the problem I have been having over the last 5 years with ISU. To many contrived events that make it seem like we are being forced to be fans. The forced cheers at the beggingin of the game by Jeff Johnson. The forced cheers in basketball that the student section does.
It's time to throw it all out. Just go bannana's like we used to do. That seemed to work in basketball. That is what created Hilton Majic. Not forced cheers and wear this and do that.

Re: Color Rules Days
yeah, it was too cold to wear my only gold t-shirt. I'm assuming most people don't have a lot of gold sweat shirts and coats.
