You think we could get two points for every one we score?

56-6 doesn't looks as bad.

Seriously though... WTF people? I blame the Greeks (mostly kidding. I actually blame all those people who show up 5 minutes before kick off drunk and trying to take good seats from people who have been there for 2 hours and ran their sorry ***es up a **** hill then down the bleachers to get them)

*Sigh* I don't understand people sometimes... this is football, not karaoke Tuesdays at Paddy's
I'm willing to guess a third of the crowd really doesnt care about the diffence in a dive and a screen. They are there for the even that surrounds the football game and that includes sing-a-longs.

Try to play that Apple I-POD commercial music. Do something different....

Re: Music for ISU/OU Game

I wish Jamie would just "lead" on this one, he came from Wisconsin with a great idea with Sweet Caroline, how can you dispute what you see and hear in the stadium when they play it. Then he let the leathernecks that want to hear 1980's jock jams get under his skin so back to the 80,s we go. I would have loved to seen SC during the Iowa game when we actually had something to be happy about, other than that SC is about the only thing people are happy about in the Jack this year.

The only thing I remember being even close to this popular was when the band played the old Hamms beer tune and everyone would do the alligator chop until an ahole band director dropped it for polical correctness purposes.

Oh but the leathernecks don't want a sing along at a football game, ever been to Soldier field and hear what they play after a touchdown? Bear down Chicago Bears lead us on to victory!!, until we get a sing along as cool as theirs, SC will do for me.

peace.

Very rarely is this the decision of the band or its director. If there is a song people have a problem with, the decision comes from the athletic department. Their ruling is final. Just FYI, the song "Go Cyclones Go" or "Don't Know the Words" to most of you, is under fire as well. The Athletic Department does not like us playing that song because of the "alternate" lyrics, and the band and its director have continued to play it.

Green hills for thy throne, and for crown a golden melody
Ringing in the hearts of all who bring thee love and loyalty
Dear Alma Mater, make our spirits great
True and valiant like the bells of I-O-WA STATE!

I'm guessing 15-20 years now they took away our Hamms beer song, band director always took the heat but you are problably right about it being some administrators call. Blasphemy if they take away the "don't know the words" song, what in the world could there possibly be a problem with that.

peace

How about because I like to see people have fun! Do you really think that playing leatherneck WWF music makes anybody play better?

I love the innocence of you saying leatherneck in this thread and then again after the Marine (or former Marine) posts in the thread. I am sure that term is not going to sway his argument any. They have earned that nickname and should be damn proud of it.

My thoughts are, I enjoy the "leatherneck" music and also the sing-along music. The students seem to really get into it along with a good portion of the other crowd. At most this cost us a minute of dealing with the song, not too tough to take. The timing usually could be better I agree but the song isn't the one making the difference on the field. The big fix is to get a better sound system that fills the stadium and play some more motivational rock, any decade and play it loud! Tailgating at the Texas game right after half I could hear the music louder in S4 than I could when I was in the stadium. (Yes I went back in after that, for a while.) These are all thing that should and will get fixed with the upgrades that are planned and talked about, I am sure JP has heard enough about the sound system issue.

Re: Music for ISU/OU Game

You know what this thread is all about, can we have some more AC/DC music to fire up our fans and that will equal more wins or can we have some fun in the stadium playing something the people will say when they went back home they really enjoyed. My guess is they really enjoyed Sweet Caroline.

I agree... I loved Thunderstruck before they came out on the field. I also loved the video of the locker room with the banners of clips from past games. I always got pumped up even more when both of those came on. I also loved the giant Cy stomping down on whoever we were going to play. As for other music, it needs to be something that will keep the blood pumping. If I wanted to take a nap, I would stay home and let Sweet Caroline be my relaxing music!
