Re: When Will ISU Host a College Gameday?
We would need to be ranked pretty high, and playing a highly ranked big-name opponent.
Therefore, the earliest it could happen would be 2011, when Texas and Oklahoma come back to Ames. I have to believe that two ranked North teams are not going to get anyone's attention, no matter how good they are, so I would assume that we would need to be playing someone with a name.

For the most part I agree with this. I think it's going to be 4 years from now when Chizik has made some remarkable progress, and his mentor Mack Brown returns to Ames again.
As far as two north teams not getting enough attention, I'm going to have to disagree with that. I think what the North in general is suffering from is a "look-at-me" syndrome, where we don't like the amount of attention we're not receiving. We haven't gotten the attention because we've just been that bad over the last several years. But around the 2000 (and earlier), when the balance of power was still in the North and aTm was by far the best team in the south, the North, specifically Nebraska, Colorado, and K-State, were getting the majority of the attention (Nebraska doesn't make an "undeserved" national championship game and K-State doesn't stay #1 for the majority of a season - I can't remember which - without attention). I think if the North's able to continue to build upon this current year where we keep stunning the South, you'll see the North continue to get more and more attention.

Well, the North would have to return to its status of the mid 90's with Nebraska, Colorado, K-State, and of course we would have to be ranked in the top 10 to 15 depending on the games that weekend. I think 2011 or after is more than likely going to be a reasonable timeframe for all of that to happen.

I think it'll be four years from now when we're playing Texas, fresh off a win over highly ranked OU. Originally Posted by jdoggivjc For the most part I agree with this. I agree, but I don't think Mack Brown will still be their coach in four years.

Re: When Will ISU Host a College Gameday?
Sorry, but it would have to take a pretty big HOME game with ISU ranked highly and the other team ranked highly. Then, we'd have to hope that there wasn't a similar game going on that day.
ESPN would do everything possible to resist coming to Ames. Why? I don't know. If they came, I wouldn't be surprised if they have the largest turnout in the show's history.
The campaign starts now. November 6, 2012.
