If Meyer throws it to Blythe its OT
Both throws in endzone when it was picked Blythe whipped his defender yet Meyer refused to look his way and throws into a triple coverage crowd. Im not saying Meyer was wrong or screwed up cause he had a excellent game. Just watched the game on dvr didnt relize how much Isu dominated most of the game. Should of have had 13 or 17 at half, to be fair Okla should of had atleast 7 at half. Great game and great crowd until all the yups leave early like usual.

Tough situation for Meyer when you have a play called from the bench and only a second to make a decision. What we see come open from the stands can look totally different than what he sees from the field..I'm not saying it wasn't there, but it's not that easy. I thought he played a whale of a game under a lot of pressure from Oklahoma and our fans. He's a classy guy.

Re: If Meyer throws it to Blythe its OT
My biggest concern is that it was the same play twice in a row. I also noticed Blythe was doing a good job beating his corner all day, the problem was it seemed they always had a safety over the top on him.

Re: If Meyer throws it to Blythe its OT
Meyer made another bad choice at the end of the game. He played a safe game and didn't make any big mistakes which was good. But when the game came to one play to tie the game up with only a few minutes left, he BLEW IT. I feel bad because he had a chance to make a big play during his senior season to possibly beat the #4 team in the country and he didn't.
In my opinion that whole drive summed up his career, so close but unable to make the big play to put them over the top. Well hopefully Arnaud, Bates, or whatever freshman comes in is able to make those plays that makes ISU a winner.

Re: If Meyer throws it to Blythe its OT
If you want a man to throw the fade to, you better throw it to Hamilton. Blythe has proven he can't do it anymore, judging by the past 2 games. He also one-armed it on our last possession when Meyer threw him a catchable ball in traffic. Not sure what his problem is, but he's getting whipped by 5'10 cornerbacks physically this year.

Re: If Meyer throws it to Blythe its OT
Burgundy... You couldn't be more wrong... Blythe would have had a touchdown earlier in the game if Meyer had thrown to his back shoulder.
There were numerous plays yesterday where Blythe was 1 on 1 with NO SAFETY... and Meyer didn't even look in his direction. Meyer audibled to an off tackle run way to many times yesterday.
By this point in there careers Blythe and Meyer should be like Manning and Harrison...
Also, Blythe wasn't dominated by the corner yesterday.

I remember that play, he was afraid to take the hit. Burg, you're on to something.

Re: If Meyer throws it to Blythe its OT
I don't inderstand why everyone is calling out Meyer. He had a great game. If you want to blame this loss on anything, it should be the terrible running game. Everytime we ran the ball (besides Meyer), it was for a gain of no more than 2 yards. We need a back that can pull off a big run, a back that can bounce off a defender for a few extra yards, a back who does not fall with a shoestring tackle every time. With the exception of Meyer scrambling for some great yards, our running game made Oklahoma's defense easy. We couldn't move the ball on the ground, so they were able to put more focus on our passing game in the second half.
I like the way our team is looking, even after each loss. I think we have a lot to look forward to with this coaching staff in place.

I wouldn't say the running game was terrible - as a team we ran for 95 yards against a great OU defense. While 95 yards isn't great, it was good enough to make the play action passing game look like we were running practice drills - that was effective ALL DAY. OU was so focused on stopping the run that we were pretty much able to pass on them all day. However, if you want the play action pass game to work, you've got to make the defense bite on the run. You've got to continue running the ball, even if we're only getting 2-3 yards a carry. Besides, our lone TD came on a running play.

People aren't "calling out" Meyer - he played a good game for the most part. The problem is based on his fresh/soph performance verses his jr/sr. Everybody expected such great things that "good" just makes people think about what could've been.
Meyer and Blythe have both had mediocre endings to their careers (at this point) and it seemed like greatness was so close.

Re: If Meyer throws it to Blythe its OT
If we could just get some consistency that would be great. This team is so hard to predict. I could see us getting dominated by Missouri (not Mizzou, there are no z's in Missouri) and I could see us pulling out a victory.
