I work in Des Moines with someone who is a pretty big ISU women's basketball fan. She was filling me in on the team and such. Then she also said she heard Lindsey Medders got engaged to none other than head women's basketball coach's son, Billy Fennelly. Is this true? My friend, Ellen, who is also a season ticket-holder said she had on idea they were even dating.

Billy and I graduated the same year at Ames High and yes they were dating and it wasn't a big secret to anyone. If they stayed together, then my guess is that rumor is true. My guess is Billy will go out and get some experience, then will come back someday as an assistant to his dad.

I was in the same program at ISU with the two of them. Great all around people. Billy is a great guy, he didn't fall far from the tree. Medders is also a tremendous person as well. Wish them both the best of luck.

Here's something interesting though. I knew a guy that was on the practice squad for the women's team back when I was in school and they had a strict policy that male practice squad players could not date the female players. So there must not have been a rule in place for a grad assistant to date a player (let alone that he's the coaches son too) or maybe they just looked the other way?

Some may remember that Katie Robinette and Ryan Kock got married. Actually they got pregnant before they married and Katie had to sit out awhile when that happened.
