Coach Dan Mac's Buyout...
NOT trying to stir up anything with this question...just curious. Can someone refresh me as to what Coach Mac's buyout was from ISU? How much and for how long do we owe him?

Re: Coach Dan Mac's Buyout...
I assume it's whatever his base salary was. Pollard said at the press conference that they would honor the contract, whatever that meant.
The campaign starts now. November 6, 2012. -

Re: Coach Dan Mac's Buyout...
He got another job, buyout was not required

We were just thinking of his living arrangement...Tampa is much more expensive than Ames...

Re: Coach Dan Mac's Buyout...
I believe ISU was obligated to pay his base salary through the life of his contract or until he obtained another job. If his new job paid him less, we still may have been obligated to make up the difference. Also, Dan has had a 2nd home in Tampa for a few years, so his upfront moving expense wasn't really a factor.

He's been paid at least close to a mil for years, I'm hoping he's not struggling with Tampa living expenses. That would be some horrific financial planning.

How much and for how long do we owe him? Just based on my recollections. I belive there was strictly speaking no "buyout," since he gracefully resigned rather than waiting to be fired. (That is, the buyout clause of his contract did not apply.) Instead, Pollard agreed to honor his contract and pay him his base salary ($225,000 a year) until, I believe, June 30, 2010. I don't remember this for sure, but since the usual buyout clause of the contract did not apply, I think he gets this despite being an assistant at USF.

I'm guessing we're all speculating here. I think what iceclone said is pretty accurate to the way things happened, at least publicly.
But I'm also sure that another contract, a buyout contract or whatever you care to call it, was drawn up. I'm 99.9% sure that was the case for LE. Couldn't say in regards to Wayne. Since he was just fired - his normal contract terms probably just took effect.
Mac surely wasn't just going to leave empty handed. And whatever "buyout" he got, he wasn't going to take on a word and a handshake. So unless somebody knows the content (or existance) of that contract - who knows. I would guess there was some language in there that addressed Mac's future employment.

Mac was fired and ISU paid his base times the number of years.

Mac was fired and his buyout was the base times the number of years. Period.

Re: Coach Dan Mac's Buyout...
There was probably a "resign" bonus in there. What usually happends is, if you resign and both parties look good, you get a nice little bonus.
