He has to sit out one year because two players that he played with when in High School were paid some money. He did nothing wrong. There is also one other player at Washington State that played on the same team that will have to sit out one year.

This is the most BS thing I've ever heard of. Honestly this makes me sick to my stomach for Lucca.
I'd love to find out some email addresses or phone numbers for the clearinghouse just to contact them and really give them a piece of my mind. This is an absolute embarrassment.

Petition anyone? =)

This really blows. All the guys other schools bring in as hired guns (literally)-like Andrew Gaze at Seton Hall back in the 90's, and Staiger gets penalized for this???

Credits: 1,011,320 | Absolutely ridiculous!!!! DesMoinesRegister.com I agree with Stormin's post below the article. This crap doesn't happen to certain schools. Didn't Ohio St have a huge violation that was essentially swept under the rug? Anyone think that USC will be penalized for Reggie Bush getting huge amounts of money? We have a player who is completely clean, and he gets this kind of penalty because of something another player on his team did? The NCAA sucks %$& and they can go *^(% themselves.

the wonderfull ncaa...one university can have 11 football players arrested, some felons and doesn't get a look from the ncaa, and here's a kid who took no money, sacrificed lots for a chance to come to the US, and get's screwed. Sure makes sense, doesn't it?

What I want to know is what is ISU's reaction going to be here? Pollard should be on the first plane this morning to NCAA headquarters and he shouldn't leave until something happens in our favor. Penalizing a kid because other people he played with accepted money? WTF? Honestly I can't believe the NCAA. I honestly cannot ****ing believe this right now.

Also, i've attached a link to the NCAA page, it has an ameaturism chart and if you go through the items, they all still point to the NCAA having their heads up their A*#.... I understand the basis of the rule, to prevent players that do not have amatuer status from accepting large amounts of gifts both financially and products and then sharing them with the amatuers....But, none of us know the circumstances around Lucca's traveling team, but, it sure looks from a distance like he did the appropriate things and now is being punished for it....I too would be interested to see how this would have played out if Lucca was at Duke, or Kentucky - he'd probably be eligible....my guess is, these two young men will be the scapegoats for the NCAA to show their not kiddin around about this stuff, too bad for them. I was surprised to see he loses a year of eligibility its not just sitting out a year, he loses it...... AMATEURISM OVERVIEW: PRE-ENROLLMENT
And regarding Ohio State, yeah here is the NCAA papers on it, its actually an interesting read....short version - the head coach gave an assistant several thousand dollars to give to potential recruits in yugoslavia.... https://goomer.ncaa.org/wdbctx/LSDBi...otBeDuplicated
