Meyer was ok last night thats it. Wow he walked in for three tds while he had a 10 yrd path! Unbelivable ! Incredible! He had Blythe twice in 1st half for long tds didnt even look his way. He threw plenty of crappy passes, only seen one drop last night. Lets not forget he has the best n deepest recieving corp in nation.

I would gladly help out in these matters...but am currently shuttling about and have no time for charity.

I love Meyer, I think that he has all of the atributes of an NFL QB. I just hope that the play calling will allow him to take advantage of all of his attributes, and physical talents.
The quarterback draw is a fundemental part of the Iowa State offensive playbook, and I have no problem with it, but we need to mix in some option, bootlegs, misdirection to really utilize Meyer's athletic ability.

I'll guess I'll the subject of scorn.......I love Meyer and he is incredibly talented but something I noticed from last year and continued thurs, he doesn't recognize single or no coverage. At least twice in the game he missed Blythe and I think Flynn with no coverage at the line. Maybe we don't allow him to audible at the line? Anyone know? This kind of worries me. I would think a qb would jump at the chance to change the play and throw a quick out to wr who wasn't covered. Still a good game by Meyer, he ran with much more authority, but I think we still haven't seen the best of him yet.

He locks in on his primary receiver too much, however, I think that it would have been ok to use the bootleg, and roll meyer out of the pocket when trying to protect the lead as well. It doesn't have to be Hicks up the middle, followed by a quarterback draw, then a pass attempt.
If my fiancee, who knows nothing about football, can see those plays coming from the stands, then I am pretty sure that opposing coaches can as well.
Plus there is a LOT of precedent for that play calling here at Iowa State, I mean haven't we seen that series before???

tycobb... next time you put up 3 rushing TDs and toss for 2, let me know so I can appologize. I guess I didn't see him walk in for touchdowns... and I don't see many other quarterbacks being able to walk it in like he did. And no interceptions... maybe a result of not forcing it to blythe like everyone else likes to do on NCAA '07.
cydsho... I don't think you have to worry about being the subject of scorn because you went about your post in a polite manner at least. I do think though that it's a lot easier for everyone in the stands to make a judgement after the play is done than it is for Meyer to make his split second decision from a completely different (and worse) view than the fans have.

I also might add that he doesn't always have enough time to check down all of his receivers when you're about to get hit in a half a second. And when he's being chased out of the pocket it's tough to be able to look at your recievers on the opposite side of the field.

Everyone is talking about the QB draws. While those were impressive, how about the execution on the option? Most of them were ran to perfection.
