Only problem
is that I see all this GREAT support for Staiger tailing off in a couple days. I understand the frustration we all are feeling. The only thing is we can't quit the "push" towards the right thing. We need to keep pushing forward until we get what he deserves as fair treatment. The only way to accomplish this is by persistence. Fill the mail boxes of the national media on a regular basis so they can't ignore this unjustified ineligibility and sign the petition.
LETS GO CLONES!!!

Re: Only problem
Unfortunately, the NCAA will just put off reviewing it until everything has calmed down.

Re: Only problem
IF they delay the appeal much longer it won't matter. It will be as good as a suspension, even if it is reduced.
They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. - Benjamin Franklin 1775 -
Re: Only problem
Does anyone know how the NCAA appeal process works? How long until we know if they are going to reduce the suspension? I am just curious if it goes quickly or if we won't know until they start Big 12 play. -

LETS GO CLONES!!! I firmly believe that students and fan support won't help. I believe that JP and GMac are the only people who can help Lucca now. The NCAA has made up it's mind.

The more fan support, the more likely this will get more national coverage, which would put more pressure on NCAA to change.

What we need is for someone 'high level' within the athletic department to talk to big media as an anonymous source to give them the meat of the story.

While fans sending e-mails and letters to the NCAA may not persuade them to change their mind, the more noise that the fans make about this injustice, the more media attention it will receive. And the more media attention it receives, the more the NCAA will feel the pressure to actually do something in this case. I say it is in Iowa State's and Lucca Staiger's best interests for the Cyclone faithful (especially all of us loyal Fanatics) to make as big of a deal out of this as possible. I've already e-mailed Myles Brand, and I will be e-mailing key members of the media as well. Maybe they can ignore one voice, but if we all tell the NCAA and the media what we think, they can't ignore that.

I agree too. Everyone who can should continue to follow this and continue to email. Probably the best thing we can do is bump these threads back onto the front page whenever we can, particularly ones that have email addresses. -

Most of the time I would tend to agree with your sentiment, but McDermott seemed to be calling for this to become a national media story in his DMR quote:
"I really think this will become a national story because this is the first one that involves a team from the Big 12 and the Pac-10, and all of a sudden these two guys aren't going to play," McDermott said.
If keeping it in the media is part of their strategy for trying to get this ruling overturned, then we fans can help.

Re: Only problem
Has anyone found any emails for Pardon the Interruption and Around the Horn. I think once one media outlet breaks this story it should start to spread a lot more! We need to submit the story of what happened to every sports talk show so they can talk about how corrupt the NCAA is too!
