Atmosphere
What was cool: helmet/team/camera in the tunnel, post game fireworks (although watching while trying to exit the stadium was a little difficult); announcer's encouragement to get into the game. What was mediocre: tornado "sirens"...couldn't hear outside the stadium...and sounded more like a submarine horn from an old war movie...I half expected to hear someone yell "dive, dive, dive". Actual tornado siren would be far cooler. Cheers before the game were great idea but they've got the wrong guy leading them. Jeff Johnson may be a great guy but he's no chearleader. Lacks the polish to pull it off. Get somebody out there who's experienced at working the crowd and it'll be a lot more professional...and fun.
Overall a great time with lots of nice stuff. Glad I popped for the season tickets (first time season ticketholder) so I'll see more than a couple of games this year.

The replay of Mediacom game had the sirens captured during a commentary. Better than the wooooogaaas monkey was mentioning. Need the songs and siren sound louder, Mr Pollard. Pump up the music.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -

And Baum was THE BOMB last night! :)
Welcome back Ryan!

1. The tunnel, helmet, and smoke.... were AWESOME!
2. The siren absolutely sucked. Nothing more than a clown's "arroooooga, arroooggga." Talk about pathetic! I would rather they just take that away unless they can replace it with something better.
3. I was one of the students throwing out t-shirts about 15 mins before kick-off, which was a blast. I think a lot of fans liked it.
4. The pre-game cheer was cool, yet weak. This will be improved upon, it was the first time, after all.
5. "Watcha gonna do, watcha gonna do" cheer is good, although it was supposed to be "Watcha gonna do, I-S-U!," not sure if it will change, but most likely not.
6. Fireworks? They were just fireworks... most people were too tired to stick around after an elongated game like that. I would have enjoyed a 2-3 minute finale type display right when the game ended instead of one or two at a time.
7. Crowd- definately into it--- at times. Still need to be louder for all parts of the game, but I was proud of how loud we were at the end, very reminiscent of Colorado.
Overall, very fun, most changes or additions were very cool, but more improvements/changes should be done to some of these.

Almost forgot, the field's paint job looked very nice.
One more thing. Our sound system needs a definate improvement! I could barely hear it most of the time where I was (north side of student section). I think they should add some speakers on the north side. I can't hear what's being said most of the time, and some of the music should be louder.

Overall a great time with lots of nice stuff. Glad I popped for the season tickets (first time season ticketholder) so I'll see more than a couple of games this year. Jeff Johnson did about as well as anyone could, standing in the middle of the field by himself with a voice that sounded like he had cheered for 4 quarters and 3 OT's already before the game started. They have to add cheerleaders with signs in the corners in order to make those chants work, especially while they're new.
Not everything was great the first time, but they will get better. I like that some of the old stuff was kept. Was Jump Around dropped, though or did I just miss it?
Yeah well, ya know, that's just, like uh, your opinion, man. -
1. Tunnel & Smoke - Cool
2. Siren - Non existent - Barely Heard it S6 parking Lot
3. Pre game cheers - shows promise
4. Anouncer commentary was good when I could hear it. I don't recall having problems hearing the anouncer last year.
5. Section E (lance the first down guy) rocks

Yeah...what was up with the sound? Were we that much louder or did they have it muted? Was never a problem before.
-
I'm not sure, but I think it's always been like that. Hard to hear anything on the North side. I never heard the "what a hit" comment or the "students stand up on your feet and get loud" comment either. Comments like that heard by the students would make us go wild! Also I think a lot of students are too intoxicated to understand what down it is, so when the PA announces "3rd down or 4th down," they may finally realize that they should be making some damn noise.

I sounds like Pollard is doing great things for Jack Trice, Ames, and the rest of the state of Iowa.. But He also needs to think not just locally but nationally. This Thursday night game with 2 up and coming teams should have been on nationally or atleast regionally covered on T.V. I couldnt even go watch it at a sports bar down here in houston. Then the audio video feed websites did not pick it up except for Yahoo which costs money. Of course my media player is to old for Yahoo Streaming so I got stuck on the phone all night listening to the game via phone through speaker!! There goes my phone bill.

My memory is correct is was on a kickoff and I am still not sure who the ISU player was, hard to see from my angle drilled the guy at a full head of steam stopping him in is tracks
