Thoughts on the atmosphere changes...
I was curious what people who made it to the game thought of Pollard's atmosphere changes?
Was the tunnel and helmet cheesy, or cool?
How were the warning sirens?
Were the attempts to get the crowd into the stadium before kickoff successful?
What other pre-game changes were worth mentioning?

What other pre-game changes were worth mentioning? I liked the tunnel and helmet. I liked that the video board showed the team inside.
We heard no warning sirens.
I think fans came in about the same as usual...I couldn't get my group there until about 5 minutes prior to kickoff.
I liked how the PA announcer was a bit more editoral--if nothing, it made us laugh!

I think overall the experience was greatly improved. There wasn't anything mind-blowing...but there really shouldn't be. Fans should really be there to see the game. The other stuff is just fluff.
And I thought the fluff was good.
- The tunnel/helmet looked a lot better on the field than it did inside the indoor practice facility. Smoke was fun.
- Couldn't hear the warning sirens all the way out in the main grass lot south of the stadium. Would be cool if they had some speakers out there pumping the sounds from JTS before the game into the lot.
- I'd say 80-90% of the fans were in the stadium 10-15 minutes before kickoff. HUGE improvement. Lets hope that continues.
The pre-game cheers aught to be kept a bit simpler. You're trying to organize over 40,000 thousand fans...many of which are buzzed or incoherent. We're not that intelligent that early in the game.:Swirl:

Warning Sirens - Could have been cool but you could hear them north of Jacobson building.
Tunnel helmet...Nice addtion
Cheer leader b/4 game. Will become a great tradition once fans learn the cheers. Parts came off weak, but it will get better. If you have been to games at some of the big programs around the country it is similar to what I have seen. I thought fans responded well.
Play by Play announcer was into game and clearly was coached on getting fans into it.
Band was more aggressive during entire game.
Music overall was good...but what was the Neil Diamond at half time.
Lots of little changes. Everything is branded now. Its not a T Galaxy store in the stadium its Cy's Lockeroom. There is Cy BBQ, Cy Burgers, The little stands separate from concession stands are now Cy's Express etc.
Overall Outstanding work by an outstanding AD

I thought it was a little over hyped, but it was the first game. Maybe it will grow on my. The "siren" was worthless; I never heard it until I got inside the stadium, and barely heard then.

Enjoyed the pause when he stated "And that's another Cyclone......FIRST DOWN!"
Got the crowd yelling "FIRST DOWN!" together. Really enjoyed that.

Agree with fans getting in stadium it was a huge improvement and especially on a night where you would expect a lot of late arrive fans from work.

Did I mention I liked the personality from the press box? :Guns: OH, but our favorite is just when he says RJ Sumrall.
It's R...J...Sum-rall! It's one of the best names he says.

Thanks for the info guys... I can't wait to get out there next weekend!

The atmosphere was greatly improved. Why is the music so quiet? They should be blasting the tunes. Half the time you could not hear the songs very well. It was louder than last year though. It really need to be louder. The helmet kicks ***. The field looks great. It was a lot of fun.

I loved the crowd chants they were trying to get us to do, not because they were cool, but because I was imagining half the stadium still tipsy and trying to spell out "CY-CL-ON-ES" from section to section.
The announcer definitely stepped it up a notch. Loved the "That's gonna leave a mark!" comment. The entire crowd was definitely more into the game, and I think it's because of him telling the stadium to get to their feet and yell. It's going to take a few games to get the old farts off their butts instead of telling everyone to sit down, but the atmopshere at Jack Trice is going to improve ten-fold this season.
I loved that the student section is finally doing the "Whatcha gonna do, whatcha gonna do!" chant that we do at basketball games for football games now. That's one of my favorites from basketball season, and I always knew it'd be cool to see it at a football game.

Is it time for kickoff vs. UNLV yet???????????????????????? -
What was the situation that prefaced the 'That's gonna leave a mark!" comment?
