Two things I bet we don't see again this year from Hicks

A true "wiff" of a pass block that caused and easy sack and a fumble. I am guessing in films Stevie will take a lot of ribbing over that missed block.

Yeah...it was a very bad block. One I've never seen out of Hicks.

Thats what everyone calls a lookout block. "LOOK OUT!" Stevie yells as the guy runs past him.

But he was on for the rest of the game. Nice to see him back as he can really play. Bret probably said - I'm on my way to 39 sacks again. Was the final count 2 or 3 Bret sacks?

Missed block...

Swing and a miss! But Hicks had several great hits where he pretty much leveled the guy. The Stevie can lay down a block. Probably the reason the younger backs didn't see the field.

Speaking of hits, did anyone notice the shot Meyer took from the cannon crew after one of his touchdown runs? Northwest corner of the end zone...BAM pretty much point blank. He turned around and gave 'em a "what the heck was that" look.

I saw it as we were in the upper deck right off that enzone. It happened twice last night too but Meyer couldn't have been 10 ft away and right in front of the cannon on that play. I think Blythe got it pretty close on his 3rd overtime touchdown too. Did you see the hit that Meyer put on Toledo #21 in the first overtime, pretty much laid him flat and he was very slow to the sideline. :Swirl: :Swirl:

I just watched the tape, he had another total whiff towards the end of regulation where Meyers pass was swatted right back at him. Definitely a poor blocking performace from Stevie!

Besides his questionable blocking at times, I really thought Stevie ran hard. Hopefull he's put away his dance routines of the past and will continue to hit the holes hard. Part of it could be improved o-line blocking to though...

stevie has been a good blocker thats why he has been number 1. though last year I think Brown should of gotten more carries than just the Oklahome State game.

hope hicks continues to work hard and improve running game is imperitive

its just the first game folks sure they will improve hope UNLV bring some game.
Defensive line needs more work than ISU's O line.

Bowen and McKenzie I wouldnt want to be brought down by either of them
it would of been nice if defense could of intercepted or deflected the ball more in that game.

I was watching the game with a friend who plays in dline in college and after Meyer leveled a Toledo player on one of his td runs and the player was slow to the sidelines he was just laughing and said that even if a quarterback broke his collar bone he'd pop up and act like nothing happened. That was definitely one of the better hits of the night. :)
