I’m not sure this is quite accurate. It is a violation to use a student athlete name or likeness to sell or promote a commercial product. That is not the same as saying you cannot put a students likeness on a t-shirt if it is not to promote a commercial product. From the compliance office brochure:
You may not use the name or picture or appearance of an enrolled student-athlete to advertise, recommend, promote sales or use of a commercial product or service of any kind. Any use of a student-athlete’s name, picture or appearance must receive authorization from the Compliance Office.
If anyone want to make t-shirts to support Lucca, contact the compliance office first to see if your idea is ok (515-294-1798).
