You rarely see star players in the NBA playing in the final few minutes of a blowout. And if they are, or if the team up big goes for a fancy dunk, you better believe a very hard foul will ensue. Because the real world comparison doesn't match your view on the situation, right?
How about Tiger Woods - should he just ease up the last few holes of the Masters a few years back that he won by something like 15 strokes?
When Michael Phelps is winning his 7th or 8th gold medal is he "rubbing it in?" Classless?
No. It's domination. You don't like it? Get better or get out.
Was keeping Brady and others in the game late stupid? Perhaps. Was it risky? No doubt about it. Classless? No way.

Re: This is why I hate the Patriots
I'm not talking about "hurting feelings". I think that it is stupid more than anything, but it's also classless. Really, there are no polls in the NFL. What do you really have to gain? There's no reason to show the other team up when the game is well in hand. Just run the ball and go ahead and pass on 3rd and long. Punt on 4th downs. Run down the clock and get out of there without injuries to your starters.
I hate baseball and its unwritten rules as much as anyone, but 38-0 in the 4th is a good time to pull the starters and take the foot off the gas.

In the real world, what is a business' main goal? Is it simply to win, or is it to maximize profits and wealth? For sports teams (on the field), all that matters is winning.
Your Tiger Woods comparison is much better. However, you're suggesting that the equivalent would be Tiger Woods no longer trying. That's not what anyone is arguing. Some people are arguing that the playcalling and personnel should have been a bit more conservative.
