Wow---Tackle Stats

You can leave off the yeah but they were all 8 yards down field posts, cause we have covered that ground already.

Alvin Bowen 14 Solo Tackles 20 Total Tackles
Tyrone Mckenzie 7 Solo 15 Total Tackles

Monster statistics for first career starts

Alvin was awesome. Thought Caleb Berg came in and did some good things. Tyrone is probably really an outside linebacker, but we need him in the midddle. Go Tyrone.

Last year our linebackers would not have caught up to the pass catchers. it would have been our secondary.

Bret may be the national offensive player of the week if a nominee. He played the whole game. Three running TDs, and 2 throwing TDs is big for a game. Over 300 yards total offense. Should be some national exposure. Maybe Fox sport should have carried the game.

EIU is the other Okoboji University for serious students and home of Captain Kirk who pilots the Enterprise on its Trek through the Universe for finding his next great job. Captain, beware of your Superbowl.

The most impressive play of the night was Tyrones return of his interception. At halftime I was ready to have him play both ways be our running back. If he would have broke that it would have been an all time classic. If anyone has a video they can post I would love to see that again

The thing I noticed from the linebackers was the speed...which is something we knew they had. Was good to actually see it on the field.

Note those WR screen passes that have hurt us in the past...not a one worked last night.

We said a similar thing in the stands..."get him in at running back D-Mac!".

I was also mostly impressed with our tackling. We didn't always get folks to the ground right away as we sometimes got pushed for a couple extra yards, but I don't recall in my sleep deprived stupor any outright missed tackles where we left our jock straps on the field. I am sure there had to be a couple, but they were fewer than I recall in past seasons.

With our youth we will make mistakes on D, but speed covers up alot of them and keeps them 8 yard plays not TD's

I think this LB core would have fared batter in our bowl game last year where we struggled with the speed of our opponent
