Turn in your cyclone colors and go pick something out that is black and yellow. You will fit in better over there. I can't believe how many clone fans are ready to throw in the towel on the whole season after one game, and a game that was a WIN. What the heck did you do during the 80s and 90s? THAT was a tough time to be a clone fan.
Sure, not a great win, against a MAC team, but a MAC team that is well coached and was 9-3 last year, came very close to winning the MAC and won the GMAC bowl.
Fair weather fans are an embarassment to the rest of the cyclone nation.
I don't post much, since I don't get to see most games, but what I read from alot of fans on various boards is ridiculous.

I have a guy next to me that complains every year. He was no different last night. He also has a minion "his wife" that repeats the same thing he says. I may end up choking him out sometime this year.

Yeah I agree about the fans. I also feel that the only way we ever begin to shed some of these feelings is by winning. Not just winning enough to go to a bowl game, I'm talking about winning the Big 12 (not just the North) and winning a big bowl game. We have a long ways to go, but the ride should be fun!
| Chizik: "One thing that I’d encourage our fans… I want them to be the loudest stadium in the Big 12. I don’t care… I want Jack Trice stadium to be the loudest in the Big 12 and I think that creates homefield advantage.... I want to stress to everyone…I want this place to be juiced up. They bought 36,000 season tickets so there is a passion there…don’t hide it… let it out. I want there to be a passion in the stadium."

I agree with you 'threemuch'. An optimistic Cyclone fan is hard to find these days. I can understand pessimism in the 80s/90s but why is everyone so down now? We have a great offense and our defense just needs a few games to gel. Down the stretch I think this team will be a fun one to watch.

With you 100%, bitchers go to EIU......I had a couple guys behind me last night that everytime Hicks got the ball, there was some smarta** comment about him juking and getting stuffed when he got good yardage or not. I am looking for Hicks to redeem himself and do 1,200 yds rushing so the nay-sayers will eat crow.
Don't get me wrong, I was yelling crap at the team at the end of the 4th quarter when we started playing "not to lose" and almost did, BUT I am very pumped about this year and think we are going to shut a lot of negative, bashing fair weather bitchers up and I can't wait.
I think it's like comparing me teaching my now 7 yr old how to ride a bike without training wheels. Did she do it the first time out????? NO Did I bark at her for not riding like Lance Armstrong the first time I tried to get her to ride?????? NO Pretty stupid analogy, BUT it is what the complainers were doing last night, and trying to post this morning. You would fit rather nicely in Pukeyesville

I have no problem with fans who get mad and hope we throw it to Blythe and wish we would have done something different from last year.
The fire Mac today crowd needs to chill.

I love the clones but I have to be real about the situation. If we play defense like that the rest of the year we are going to get killed. I love the effort and the talent on this defense, but we are really green.

It used to be we would be overjoyed with any kind of victory, now some ***** when we don't win by a bigger margin due to perceived questionable play calling or player performance. I guess it's a sign, our program is getting better.

Succinct rerview.
Fact: 7.5 favorites by Vegas people who do more research than anyone else on games.
Fact: win by 2.0 in Overtime.
Fact: first overtime win.
Fact: No major injuries
Opinion: Toledo is for real. It is a long season ahead. Stevie and Bret looked better than ever. Linebackers looked better than expected. D line could not break free. D backs were not noticeable. O line better than expected. Receivers were top notch. We have to get better by the Iowa game.
Best newcomer: Alvin Bowen.
Stupid play in priority: Two point conversion by Toledo (nothing else close.)
Best run: Tyrone
Exciting observation: Not very many Clone penalties.
Biggest worry: punting. D-!AA appearance.
Best play: The catch.
Best luck: helmet entance did not deflate.
Band: on the field quite a bit
Best coaching: Them
Best passer: Bret
Best runner: Stevie
Weirdest thing: What happened to Koch
Still waiting: Josh Johnson breakaway
Pleased: Tackling methods.
Hold my breath: Whenevr Shaggy kicks. PAT looked perfect.

I could see why some Cyclone fans would be a little uneasy about last's night win. After all, a mid-major in Toledo with a new starting QB ripped apart ISU's defense (imagine what Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Texas, Iowa, and Nebraska is going to do). Not to mention poor special teams play still plague Iowa State.

It's not the wins or losses that matter, it's how you win or lose. This staff showed last night that the same things that cost ISU 2-3 games last season wasn't learned from!!!
I love Meyer, Blythe. Flynn, et al they will in games on their own, probably 6-7 just enough to make another lousy bowl, that noone cares about.
Then we'll hear the famous Mac spin of how far he's taken us.
Of course with as many bowl games as there are now, we'll make another fun filled trip to Shreveport for Christmas.

And I have been an ISU fan for 30years, watching Donnie Duncan teams, Jim Criner teams, Jim Walden teams, now this.
I go back to Lynn Nance in Basketball, so PLEASE, just because I happened to think that our domestically violent head coach has proven that he's overmatched TIME AND TIME AGAIN, that I am not the most lyal Cyclone fan that you have ever met.
