Speaking of injuries...what was the deal with Cochran (Toledo QB) getting injured in one of the overtimes? He laid there forever and I was convinced it was bad injury (ACL, MCL, etc.) because he was down for a good 5 minutes. He then gets up, they call timeout, and he goes back into the game...it was a little strange.

ISUFAN22...well you are close...Cramps fit with your scenario....quotes from Coach and Cochrane....
"Clint just had some cramps. It was a long game. Three overtimes is a lot of extra football, a lot of extra strain on a football team. So he dehydrated a little bit."
I didn't get enough fluids, or too much fluids, I don't know. I just got cramps. It was nothing serious. I was upset that I had to come out for that one play. It's excruciating for a moment but once they massage it out it's okay."

I read that he got cramps (yes, he then replaced his tampon, LOL). I don't agree that he should have been able to come back in the next play though. I always thought it had to be at least one play before they came back in to play (regardless of T.O. used or not).

I don’t care… I want Jack Trice stadium to be the loudest in the Big 12 and I think that creates homefield advantage.... I want to stress to everyone…I want this place to be juiced up. They bought 36,000 season tickets so there is a passion there…don’t hide it… let it out. I want there to be a passion in the stadium."

They either have to use a TO or sit out a play, and since they called a TO he could come back in.

After a few minutes, the trainers made their way out to check on the player, and after a few more minutes he jumped(!) up and started running(!) off until the trainer grabbed him. Viola! Free time-out.

Free time-out. Yeah, looked a lot like the "horrible" injuries that were sustained by some of the soccer players in this summer's World Cup. If it was simply cramps, the officials should have made the trainers help him off the field and then get the game going again. Same goes for situations where our players get cramps, too (which happened soon after Cochran's "cramp").

That's what I was thinking. He just stayed down to get that call. This is football, not soccer.
