You can't double-suspend somebody.
"Right now he's suspended," Ferentz said. "This really doesn't change things. You can't double-suspend somebody."
The real question is can he be put on double secret probation?

If it has to do with the elibility of MBB players at ISU, I bet the NCAA could find some way to do it...

The real question is can he be put on double secret probation? There was talk before this happened that he might be back on the team next year. I'm sure Captain Kirk won't hold it against him. Then again he's not part of the team right now. So it doesn't count...

Re: You can't double-suspend somebody.
I can't believe ferentz hasn't dismissed douglas from the team. I mean he kicked Clint Huntrods off the team for public urination. This is totally a case of a good player being treated differently than a backup longsnapper. I think that with all that has gone on with the UI program off the field this year, ferentz needs to cut him loose.

Re: You can't double-suspend somebody.
If I were coaching division 1 football in the state of Iowa, I wouldn't dismiss him yet. Not only has the legal system not played out from the first thing, but he's a talented player. It's easy for fans to judge from a distance but it's another thing when the win-loss record is next to your name.
Now with the problems in the program the last 10-12 months, he probably has to cut him just to send some sort of message but if it were normal circumstances I'd completely understand KF giving him a pass. It's like the Mike Taylor thing last April. So many people were certain McDermott would cut ties right away and I knew damn well he wouldn't. Sometimes as a coach you have to look at the big picture and keep a few bad apples. You might face some criticism, but if your winning it doesn't matter. Might not be right but that's how it is.

Yes Kirk you cannot double suspend him, but you can KICK HIM OFF THE TEAM.
After the Pierce deal why would Iowa keep DD around.
