A question
Me being a new guy, I was very impressed with the hire, but how long until a big program comes and hires Chizik away. The last few games show that the team is being coached well. Other bigger programs have to had take notice of the job that this staff has done keeping this team together, and playing hard and well.
Chizik may have have attracted more attention with the job he, and his staff, has done overcoming the lack of talent that he was left than he did as a coordinator.

Keep in mind this team is still 2-8. Granted, Chizik has made great strides already and the future looks bright, but I think we got at least a couple years before we have to worry about him being snatched away.
Also, it's not like Chizik is being paid chump change. If I remember correctly, he is one of the higher paid coaches in the Big XII. And if all goes to plan, Iowa State will be one of the "bigger programs" in a couple of years. I'm looking forward to it.

Re: A question
I would rather have to worry about losing our coach due to success than the alternative (having an underperforming program and no interest from other schools in our coach)

Re: A question
Chizik has to build a winner here before we have to worry about another program snatching him away. Let's enjoy the ride getting there and worry about ponying up the BIG bucks when we do finally get there.

Re: A question
If Chizik is able to win Big 12 Championships here, there is no reason to go anywhere else except for possibly money -- And I'm confident that Pollard will make sure that is taken care of.

Exactly. If Chizik is able to build a successful, winning program here, and Pollard can keep him satisfied (moneywise), why leave? Maybe I'm naive, but I got the feeling that Chizik is in this for the long haul. (As is Pollard, for that matter)

Re: A question
If these coaches are worth their salt, they have ambition beyond Iowa State. I'm not sure I want someone who at Chizik's age says, I'll stay somewhere for life. On the otherhand, he is the type of guy who will have someone waiting in the wings with his system to take over the program.

Re: A question
I personaly believe that this hire from both JP's standpoint and Chiziks was not a stepping stone to bigger schools. REALLY! If you take a look at what JP has done, my perceptions isn't all about short term. LONG TERM seems to be the message I'm seeing from everyone within the athletic program. Bill F. gets a long term contract, Cael S. sure as heck isn't going anywhere, GMAC seems primed to go where Floyd went and even farther, and Chizik becomes the corner piece of this whole thing.
I really think JP wants ISU to turn into a University that can afford to hire and KEEP thier coaches. He doesn't raise prices, ask for more money, and hire the best coaches possible just to parade around for a couple years. Nope, these guys better of found a home they like because they're staying for awhile!

Re: A question
To the original poster's jab at me. Thanks jdog for the edit and a couple with the neg rep to have my back.
It was an attempt at humor since hound dog is one of my best friends since the age of 5.
I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everyone. -

I will counter your question with another question. If a smoking hot chick wanted to date you, would you? Even though she may leave in a few years? -

Is she an empty shell of a person, or does she actually think for herself?
