Five Best Conferences (10)
1. Pac-10
2. Big East
3. ACC
4. SEC
5. Big Ten

Big 12 doesn't make the top 5. It'd be really nice to take it to the Pac 10 in the Hardwood Challenge, that would do a lot for the conference rep.

Five New Coaches in Tough Spots (26)
2. Todd Lickliter, Iowa: He had more talent last season at Butler, guaranteed.

Pretty much a given there.

Five Changes The Minutes Would Make (31)
1. Put the NBA arc in the paint for easier block-charge calls.



2. Give coaches two fewer timeouts per half.

3. Eliminate the term "bigs" from the lexicon.

Agree with that wholeheartedly.

The Big 12 is pretty questionable this year. Seems like the conference has been "young" for about 2-3 years now and yet the conference hasn't risen yet. This will give ISU hope this year that pretty much only Kansas, K-State, and MAYBE Texas are way above us from a talent standpoint.

The Big 10 is one of the top 5 conferences in the nation? Didn't their conference favorite (Michigan State) just get beat by a Division II school?

Good point. I'm pretty sure Purdue just lost a player recently, too. Ohio State lost some big time players, but that guy is a recruiting machine out there. Iowa and Minnesota stink.

Really? I'm hoping to get out of the MN game with a win at home. I think Coleman, McKenzie, and Tollackson could provide some real problems for this squad.

Plus Abu-Shamala can really fill it up from outside. I'm really worried about that game.

It's just the typical pre-season Big Ten over-hype. After a few embarrasing pre-conference losses (which the Big Ten will not be able to cover up because the games will be on the BTN for all the world to see), the hype will go away...

If you are relying on young players, as the BigXII has the last few years, you aren't going to get a lot of preseason hype. In the end this may be a good conference but we won't know until the season gets going.

It is not where you start but where you finish. Let's hope the Clones hold up their end of the bargain.
