Credits: 4,523,525 NFL: Cowboys | NFL fines Owens $10,000 for towel-waving celebration | | ESPN - Report: Owens hit with $10K fine for waving towel - NFL Once again, Terrell Owens' NFL touchdown celebrations cost him. The flamboyant Dallas Cowboys wide receiver was fined $10,000 for violating league uniform and equipment rules by the NFL, The Dallas Morning News reported Thursday.
The newspaper said that Owens was penalized for waving a personalized towel during Dallas' 38-17 win over Philadelphia on Sunday, a move that was picked up by television cameras.
It was the second time this season he's been fined for violating league rules after a touchdown.
Earlier this season, Owens was fined $7,500 for a celebration that included using the goal post and football to poke fun at the New England Patriots' spying scandal during Dallas' 37-20 victory over Miami this past Sunday.
The newspaper quoted the Cowboys wide receiver as saying the league has squeezed much of the fun out of the game for him and many others.
"It's stuff like that," Owens told the Morning News. "People try to make a big deal out of it. It's not any different than Chad [Johnson] going to the sidelines and taking [out] a coat. All I had was a little towel, and now they want to make that into a big deal." I am still not thrilled TO is on my team.
But this is a joke...a complete joke. I love the new no-nonsense policy the NFL has with off-field issues. I can see why they've made changes to the celebrations. But this is gone too far.
If you didn't see it, after TO scored...on the sidelines...he had some personalized Cowboys towel and was waving it at the stands/camera. I thought it was nothing...apparently the NFL did not. |

As TO said, Chad Johnson can wear around a homemade hall of fame coat but TO can't waive a towel??
Stupid. Let's just take ALL of the fun out of scoring TDs.

CW...I just read elsewhere that Chad was fined $10k for that jacket, on someone's blog (found on RanchReport.com). But I never saw anyting on ESPN about it...so I'm not sure that's accurate.

At least they are being consistent if that's true.
IT'S GARBAGE! AND THE PERSON WHO PRINTED IT IS GARBAGE! I do think its a crock that players cannot even waive a towel after scoring a TD when they are on the sidelines. Maybe we should not let them cheer either. Does the NFL want these guys to be robots and show no emotion or what?

I wonder, did Larry Johnson get fined for taking the Chiefs flag, waving it around and driving it into the endzone? Methinks not.

I loved that celebration, but it should have been flagged and fined. Have not seen a thing on it yet.

The NFL is trying to **** TO off and entice him into having a very public altercation since he's caused no problems for the Cowboys this year.

The celebration he did where he was making fun of Spygate was the funniest thing I've ever seen.

I'm split, now we're saying they can't even bring something to the sidelines...what is that, isnt the NFL a form of sport & Entertainment? I enjoy seeing the antics, as long as it don't get carried away like the old days with the Skins Fun Bunch, but don't make the NFL stand for No Fun League.....
I love the spontaneous emotional reactions....what Mark Richt did at Georgia....if it had been contained to just the offense, i would have loved that....its sending a message to his team, to be emotional, take it personal....But having the entire team storm the field,,,,hmmmm too much....
For the college ranks, i saw the game tuesday night between Central and Western Michigan and when Western Mich scored with 1:45 left, the team stormed him in the endzone but no penalty called....why not, is it okay when it occurs in the last minute???
I'm torn here, love to see the raw emotion and excitement thats what the game is built on, don't make it too blah blah blah.....Don't get me wrong, i never hated to see Emmitts TD celebration, score, tuck the ball under left arm and run to sidelines...thats class.....

Methinks you are referring to Randy Moss here, not TO. Just a guess....
