CU vs. ISU 1991

I know we have already talked about this game but, you can now watch it if you are a clone zone member at cyclones.com

AMES, Iowa - Not only did Iowa State and Colorado battle each other, but also had to contend with blizzard conditions and bone-chilling temperatures. But after four quarters of slipping and sliding, the Buffaloes came out on top, 17-14, in the regular-season finale for both teams.

Iowa State got on the board first when fullback Jim Knott scored on a 12-yard run in the first quarter, giving the Cyclones a 7-0 lead. Six minutes later, the Colorado placekicker booted a 22-yard field goal to cut the lead to 7-3 after the first quarter.

On the third play of the second quarter, Colorado tailback Lamont Warren ran 74 yards for a touchdown to put the Buffs up 10-7. But the Cyclones came roaring back to take the lead once again with five minutes to go in the first half when Knott scored again, this time from 17 yards out to give ISU a 14-10 halftime edge.

The only scoring of the second half came in the third quarter when tight end Sean Brown caught an 8-yard pass from quarterback Darian Hagan to give the Buffs a 17-14 lead and eventually the victory.

Despite the adverse weather conditions, the Cyclones gained 271 in total offense to Colorado's 243. Defensively, linebacker Dan Milner had 11 tackles

Make the world a better place, punch a hawkeye in the face

Colorado coach Gary Barnett "I thought we had a pretty good mascot. But when we showed up at Iowa State and they had a real tornado, that's the real deal." November 12, 2005
