Seems to me the gist of the opposition to recruiting Eikmeier is as follows. He can't be too good because: 1. He's from Nebraska 2. He's being recruited by GMac and ???? 3. He's from Nebraska. 4. He's not "Athletic" (because he's white) 5. He's from Nebraska. He's too skinny 5. He's from Nebraska
The first time I got this "gist" is when you posted it. I don't think anyone else was saying any of these things except you.
I think he is a great pick up. You can't blame people for wanting to know more about him and what he is able to do.
When you come in and assume the role of thought police it gets old really quickly.
But hey, this board would be freaking boring as hell if all we did was sit here and have huge long threads about how McD is a stallion and Wes is going to average 30/10/10 in the NBA some day.
BOTTOM LINE: McD wouldn't have offered him if he didn't seem some flashes of a quality big 12 player in him. Plus, everybody here wants the kid to have all the success in the world the rest of his high school career and throughout his time at ISU. If we can't even be curious about the potential of recruits, what's the point of even discussing them?
AMEN BRYCE!!!!!! When did it become mandatory for everyone to play 'patty-cake' on all of these ISU Internet sites? If anyone even slightly deviates from the mandatory party line, the thought police are quick to jump and claim that the poster does not support ISU or is a closet Hawk or some other bile. The Internet is the greatest communication device humans have ever come up with. Outside of obvious misuses such as profanity, epithets and personal insults, these boards should remain open to any and all opinions and questions. Part of being a fan is being able to discuss the good and bad in your team.
Good points by all! If he can shoot and score, then I'm glad we got him. Seems like a blue collar kid, that works hard and will probably do whatever this coaching staff has asked from him. And thats all we can ask of this kid.
Oh no.. its not that he is white... or from nebraska.., we always redicule every recruit we sign and go over his info a thousand times with a magnifing glass. YEA RIGHT!
This gets my vote for unintentionally funny post of the week. TyCobb pleading for an end to racism (which didn't exist in the first place). The real Ty Cobb is spinning in his grave. Watch out for the spikes!
Yeah well, ya know, that's just, like uh, your opinion, man.
The fact he is underrated is not evidenced that he is already known by several schools. The fact is he was pretty good in the summer tournament even as a sophomore. It is not thayt easy to average 22.3 points on a team as a sophomore shinny that might score 50-60 points for the game. Sometimes college coaches are looking at ninth graders and watching their progress. A certain Shaq ONeal was spotted at such an early age and pursude heavuily by LSU.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style.
