Wonder what kind of player he'll be and how he'll work for McDermott's system...
what is the book on this guy - i hadn't heard of him before now.
I never heard of this guy until about 2 days ago either. What makes him someone we wanted to get so soon? He is listed as a point guard. Did we recruit him for backup duties to Garrett? Seems like a valuable scholly spot to give to someone that only have MVC teams and Neb recruiting.
PS...I'm not saying I'm disappointed in this selection as McD knows what he is doing but I sure would like to understand what McD is thinking.
I havent heard much, but from reading articles that i found when i googled him, it sounds like he is a pretty good 3-point shooter. Maybe McDermott just got his sniper.
Jeremy has him under Highly Interested in ISU and he just visited on the 31st.
He also has him as a SG
Jeremy, any more info as to why we want him?
This is going to sound like a jerk thing to say, but this was the kind of recruit we were all worried McDermott would be signing when he was hired. He's a small town midwestern kid, listed at 150.
I'm not questioning the pickup, because all I've seen of the kid is a headshot. But it does surprise me.
That being said, I hope he comes in and dominates and throws up some 18 inch bicep at me after a dunk.
Either way, get the kid a protein shake.
He has two years to get weight put on guys. I highly doubt he would come here at that weight.
He's very good at shooting the three, and I hope McD saw a kid that could be a real threat and got him before others started coming after him.
I don't know. This offer seems a little unusual to me. Maybe it's the GPA? Never hurts to have uber-smart guys on schollie. Maybe it's keeping a pipeline open in NE also? Not a bad idea either.
I guess I'm just going to have to trust the staff on this one.
Welcome aboard, Eikmeier! And prepare to have your last name excessively misspelled on message boards. :)
If he was getting offers from other schools, he's probably not a complete pudd... Maybe McD can develop him.
I'll trust Mac on this one, Korver wasn't highly recruited by the majors either and he's now in the NBA.
It never hurts to have a 3 point shooter. You can't just recruit guys that are amazing studs. Strange as it may sound you have to recruit role players. Great thing about college basketball is that the best team wins not the one with the most studs or stars on it. Just look at our team this past year. Glad he chose ISU and here is to hoping he can be a great player!
08-09... 22 some points as a sophmore... and I'm going to go ahead and say if you go to any highschool and look at the sophmores... you're going to think they're tiny little people... so I'm sure he's got plenty left to develop over the next two years... and I'm thinking when 08 rolls around... we're going to be glad we got in on him early before the powerhouses come rolling around picking all the good apples off the tree.
Just because we haven't heard of him and he's from the Midwest, doesn't mean he can't play. The kid is 6' 3" tall with a couple more years to grow before coming to ISU. He averaged 22 points as a sophomore, so he can score. If he's a smart player that comes into ISU at 6' 5" and can shoot from outside, I say it's a great pick up.
Like i posted earlier, we wont have enough balls to go arond even if McDermott wanted to get all 5* studs, he needs to bring in role players that dont feel the need to constantly have the ball.
Not everyone we sign is going to start and play 30+ minutes a game. I think McDerm will bring in his fair share of studs and a bunch or role players that will compiment them. Thus having a great "TEAM". As we've seen, chemistry is very important in successful basketball teams.
