Apartments in Ankeny
My wife and I have lived in Ames our whole lives but are both going to be working in the Des Moines area and want to try living in Ankeny for a year. We figure we'll rent for a year and then buy if we feel it's a fit. We are having trouble finding something that fits our needs. Does anyone know of a good website or some places to check?
Idealy we'd like
2 BR 1 BA
W/D in unit
nice but not necessary
-cats OK
-garage available

I will inquire, if I have to go anywhere tonight I will find out the names of it. That is only like 6 blocks from my house. This subject came up once before, so I am sure others will chime in.
We moved to Ankeny for the very reason you are moving here. My wife worked in Ames, I worked in DSM. We are both from Ames so, Ankeny just made the most sense. That was 11 years ago, and now we love Ankeny, and really would not want to live anywhere else in central Iowa.

I'm in my last semester at ISU and my wife teaches 4th grade in Ankeny, so it might be a nice fit (and of course it's still close to ISU)

Heh, you will find that you still go to Ames for dinner, since all the good places are there and it takes less time to get there than WDM. The added bonus of Ames is that you can actually get seated there.

Don't go to the Belmont apartments. They are always busting people for drugs there.

Re: Apartments in Ankeny
I lived in the Wanda Manor appartments on NE 5th St. for a year. Right behind the Mercy medical center. By far the nicest place for the price that I found while looking. The majority of their units dont have w/d hookups, but some do. Pretty spacious floor plan, not a whole lot of storage, but thats expected with appartments, although you can add a garage if you would like.

I think they liked them as well. Close to interstate access as well.

What is an apartment going for in Ankeny now anyway?

Re: Apartments in Ankeny
The one I had in Wanda Manor was $700/month. There was a slightly smaller one available for $670/month though.

Re: Apartments in Ankeny
There is a duplex for rent by my home, it is at the corner of Magazine and SE Bel-aire Rd, great location, it has a garage. Not sure on price, but I know there are alot of Duplexes in Ankeny if you are looking in that direction also.

Re: Apartments in Ankeny
I had a friend that lived in Delaware Crossing. They seemed nice, but I didn't get the grand tour.
