CF vs. Other Message Boards
I have spent a little time over on the Colorado message board, mostly to laugh at what they say, but I have noticed since I have been on CF that people are almost always nice towards one another. Compared to other boards like CU's, Iowa's during the middle of the season, and several others where people are saying a lot of **** you and general hatred to other posters comments.
So I was wondering, is CF different because ISU fans are just nice people or is it because of the promising future with new coaches, facility upgrades, Jeremy giving free beer, and lots of wins over the last 2 weeks that we just can't complain right now? Step 1: Cut a hole in the box. -

Trust me, after being on some of the other Cyclone websites, there is a general 'niceness' here that is somewhat unique.

It is obviously due to the crack staff of Moderators..... -

I dumped CR due to all the bitterness. People are general civil here.

Re: CF vs. Other Message Boards
I do think that some of it can be explained by the status of our team too. Even though it's been a tough season, we all kind of gave the current team a bit of a "mulligan" this year. And, with the constant improvement we've seen in the last several weeks, there's much to look forward to.
If we had a team that we expected big things from all year and then ended up having a disappointing year, the civility of our conversations might not be quite as good. (See last year's football team)
I still think that overall, we have some pretty great fans and I really appreciate this message board compared to others.

Re: CF vs. Other Message Boards
I think having a bunch of moderators helps, plus I think it is possible that people migrate here from other places due to the civility and respect shown by other posters. And the rep system probably doesn't hurt. -
Re: CF vs. Other Message Boards
there are other boards out there?
I bet none of them and maybe all them combined don't have have as many posts for the entire month of October as we have in one thread... that won't freakin' die.

I would have to say the atmosphere of being by and for the fans helps. Up until this summer we didn't even have ads so it's always been clear that the site isn't about money - just the cardinal & gold.
A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player. -
