Where do we stand exactly with Harrison Barnes. Has anything changed. From what I knew before he was going to wait to committ for a long time but loves the ISU program and Mcdermott. And isn't Mcdermott's son in Harrison class? Obviously it would really help if he committed early so it would help land other prospects like Evan Anderson and Darius Stevens.
Nothing new on Royce White or Rodney Williams. They are reaches but there is still a line of communication with them. I think Williams is a better shot for us than White. I have also heard taht Williams has the most potential. Grades may be an issue with him though.[/QUOTE]
Either one would be fine to have.
Thought I read somewhere that Royce and Rodney wanted to attend the same school. Also it's Royce rated higher than Rodney?
I think Mac keeping the lines open to Pomlee is a smart move. While you never like to force kids to leave a program after they are recruited, the reality is we have had a ton of new faces the last couple of years and it would be no surprise if someone left; for whatever reason. If someone does and a scholie is available: Welcome to Ames, Mr. Pomlee. Lets just hope his medical issues are over or can be managed. He sounds like a good catch for the program and an Iowa kid to boot. Gotta like that.
Transfers don't hurt if they leave with good academic standing. To the best of my knowledge everyone that has left since McDermott got here has left in good standing.
I'm pretty sure, each student athlete is awarded 2 points/semester toward the APR requirement of 925. One point if they return & one point if they are academically eligible. So if a kid transfers only 1 point is awarded.
You might be right that ISU can't lose a scholarship- I seem to remember that to lose a scholarship a team must be somewhere below 925 and have kids that receive 0 points.
I hope not. I've been impressed with the little I've seen of him. Seems like he can really make his own shot and is great off the dribble. Had some nice drives during the Cyclone Challenge.
I think if anything they would use Alex Thompson's Scholly on L.A Pomlee or there is also a chance someone else will get frustrated and become unhappy at the lack of playing time.
Actually I heard he's trying out for the football team - he saw Antonio Gates play a few times and figured he could do it too. He'll be starting place of Barkema on Saturday at KU and will then transfer to Kansas after seeing their most awesome campus and facilities.
