Quick update on MBB recruiting

Harrison Barnes is still a non commit. I think he is still ours to lose. He appears to be a very smart kid. So the only schools I see him ditching us for are a Duke or Stanford type team.

Also rumors about L.A. Pomlee are true. We could have one more kid for the 08 class. I think the staff beleives someone will be leaving (not Lucca at this point). So I think there is one more guy we will get.

Also there is one kid on the team that is very home sick. It's kind of a weird deal. He is a freshman and he will probably stick it out. However this one has me confused. Once I hear more I will let you know.

Nothing new on Royce White or Rodney Williams. They are reaches but there is still a line of communication with them. I think Williams is a better shot for us than White. I have also heard taht Williams has the most potential. Grades may be an issue with him though.

So someone is leaving... is that just a guess by the coaching staff that someone almost always leaves, or is there someone specific that might not be here. If it is someone specific, can you say whether it is academics or PT or something else?

O.K so maybe everyone know's that Vette is homesick. THat is weird to me.

The homesickness issue is a tough one to overcome! As much as these kids are being treated like kings on campus...it is still a tough adjustment. I am surprised more kids don't leave during the first semester on campus. Especially when you consider that these kids were probably legends in high school and now are fighting just to get on the court.

I thought I read that Vette was homesick. Good thing he didn't go to Indiana State like he originally planned.

As for someone leaving?? If the rumor is true that Brister has been late to games, practice, class, etc. How long until he is deep in the doghouse?

Just my thoughts.

Someone find Vette a girlfriend...that will settle him in a bit!!!

McDermott mentioned on a pre- or post-game show that Clayton Vette is very homesick. It's a huge adjustment to come to ISU from a small-town high school. And on top of that, to have the demands of D-I basketball has got to be extra difficult. I don't know if you're talking about Vette, but in any case, I sure hope he can work through it.

What are the rumors about Pomlee?

Vette is about 110 miles from home, it could be worse.

Vette's from Waverly isnt he? Thats a short drive back home, hour and a half or so. I can't imagine that he couldn't make it home every couple weeks or something

During the season that's next to impossible.

Yet I still don't understand that. I was excited we got him yet my excitement has tapered quite a bit seeing him on the floor and such.

Homesick from Waverly? Man, I couldn't wait to leave my town when I was growing up!

I hope Vette can get over it. It wasn't really that hard for me but I had a great support system when I came to school. He really doesn't have any other options closer, since he can't transfer to another Mo Valley school.

As to his ability, does anybody remember young Homan? I thought he would be awful.

That's too bad to hear that somebody might be leaving. I hope it's not CJ - but he doesn't seem to be fitting in too well right now.

I've got a question for somebody in the know... does the staff think Lucca will hang around even if he can't play this year? He was one of the recruits I was most excited about.

Vette needs to transfer to Wartburg if he is homesick:)
