Chizik paying Band's trip to Kansas

I just spoke with one of the band members, and he said Gene Chizik is paying for the Iowa State University Cyclone Varsity Senior three-hundred twenty members popcorn hopping leg's flinging everywhere Marching Band to Kansas. I think they said that they are taking 7 charters full of band members which would be awesome! It sounds like there are tons of students that plan on making their trip down to Lawrence. It should be a good time, and a great crowd following!

NCAA rules say that if you bring your band to an away game you have to pay for the tickets that they stand in. Jamie Pollard made an agreement last year with the Kansas AD that if they brought their band to ISU last year the ISU gets to go to KU this year and no one would pay for tickets

This guy just keeps impressing me more all the time! I am so glad we have the Chiz. It's fun, living in MN, having all the fans already calling for Brewster's head & knowing we got our guy.

He is also a fairly large contributor to NCC. The guy gives back. I just hope we can make him feel so at home in Ames that he will forego the offers he will be getting in a couple of years.

Sounds like a pretty good deal, however, the price of 7 charter buses leaving friday morning, staying in a hotel Friday night, and coming back after game saturday is going to pretty pricey. From the sounds of it, the road trip to nebraska for Cyclone Alley is quite a chunk of money, try 7 charter buses, and hotel rooms for damn near 400 people! Very generous of Gene Chizik!

I also noticed that looking in the program against Kansas State. I decided to look for other coaches also in there. I saw that Gene Chizik, Greg McDermott, Jamie Pollard all donated 10,000 or more. I saw that Bill Fennelly, I think John Walters, and a few others donate over 2500 I believe. I may be wrong. One person I was surprised about was that I didn't see Cael Sanderson's name anywhere in there. I know he doesn't get paid as much as the other major sport coaches here at ISU but I figured I'd see a contribution to the NCC.

I think Cael will get on that list soon enough.

But then again, his 4 years of wrestling was more donation than what the others have given in money so far.

There's no reason they can't load up at 4:30 a.m. Saturday and make it a day trip. It's been done. A lot.

Side note: This is the first official time the full band has gone to Lawrence since about 1987.
