Recruiting Speed

I was looking over the list of offers on CR and noticed that it seems like almost everyone we have given offers to is towards the top of their position when it comes to 40 times, and most of the kids are under 4.6. Kid's like Dustin Land (4.41) are what we need to keep looking for. He may only be a ** recruit (I know, that doesn't mean jack) but you can teach a kid fundamentals, you can't teach speed. I love Chizik!!

Exactly. If a kid has speed and as long as he learns the fundamentals, he doesn't need to be a 4-5* recruit. If he is fast and has desire he can be a good football player. Fill a whole team with guys like him and wham... you end up surprising a lot of people. See Kansas.

Chizik: "One thing that I’d encourage our fans…I want them to be the loudest stadium in the Big 12. I don’t care…I want Jack Trice stadium to be the loudest in the Big 12 and I think that creates homefield advantage.... I want to stress to everyone…I want this place to be juiced up. They bought 36,000 season tickets so there is a passion there…don’t hide it…let it out. I want there to be a passion in the stadium."

I-S-U!

Re: Recruiting Speed

This should not be surprising. Chizik understands that we must have excellent overall team speed if we are to compete for championships!

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.

you cant teach heart either. and something tells me chizik is finding some of that as well.

We all remember making fun of our little brother. And then that day came when you looked at him and thought "Crap, when did he become taller than me?" There comes a time when you just know your time has passed and it's their spotlight now.

Re: Recruiting Speed

of course he is recruiting speed, especially for the defensive side of the ball. The tampa 2 requireds you to have alot of fast players on the team. The saftey's are really deep and need lots of speed to get to the runs or catch up on shorter passes. also requires really good fast defensive ends to get pressure on the qb. Just look at the colts D and that is the type of player he is looking for

I'm not saying that I was surpised by this, I was just pointing out that I liked what I saw when checking out the recruits. Team speed is vital if you want to hang with the likes of TX and OK year in and year out.
