I never could understand why they couldnt before. It doesnt bother me any as long as they are still trained the same. Anymore you never know who might bring a gun to class or on campus and start firing.
Finally! This was a big issue when I was a freshman back in 96. Some people tried to turn it into a racial thing... I am glad that didn't happen this time.
Now lets just hope they never HAVE to use their weapons.

I was gonna say... that didn't take long but I guess we already had the weapons. I understand that the ISU PD train regularly with them as well... just couldn't carry them before
Oh we will fight, fight, fight for Iowa State, and may her colors ever fly!!! In Accordance with Prophecy
Now that we have the ISU Police armed, could we find some spare arms for #26 SmithJones of the football team?
Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. Problem is, I get more paint on my toes and on the carpet than on my nails. Any advice? Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this.
As long as they are fully trained (which the have been) than yes they should be able to carry guns. I think they should have tasers as well if they don't already. Bcuz different situations call for different weapons. And that's the type of training that will stop an unwanted shooting by a police officer on someone.
