Any diamond in the rough in this bb class?
Seems like a few on this board have some insider perspective. With that, have any of you heard if there is a player or two we just signed that the coaches feel we got a steal with? Seems like a solid group of kids that will fit McD's coaching style. So, I'm not concerned whether or not they are good or not. Just curious as to whether or not anyone in the know feels that we had a real diamond in the rough...
Yes, I know all bets are off until they get on the court.

I think Hamilton will be. The kid played football until he grew 10 inches. He seems to have a decent build and is very athletic.

Eikmeier might be the real steal, but who knows. On paper it's Buckley.

I'll defer....and answer this question in a couple of years.

They said he's a Jake Sullivan style kid that you can't keep out of the gym. He also is eating up everything they can give him as far as instruction goes and trying to beef up. At 6'3/6'4 he should be able to get his shot off much easier than smaller guys like Sullivan. Just from hearing them talk I got excited about him.

Re: Any diamond in the rough in this bb class?
The team has a three point shooting contest that works like this: As soon as a player makes one - they start counting "makes"...The count starts over at zero if the player misses two in a row, unless the shot after the two misses is nothing but net. Eikmeier got to 81, got ****** because he had to start over and finished with 191.
Oh and he was rebounding his own shots.

Oh and he was rebounding his own shots. Yep that's the same drill that Lucca got 142 or something like that on...Mac said his record at UNI was Ben Jacobson with a 70 something.

Re: Any diamond in the rough in this bb class?
Crazy... it will be nice to have lights out shooters on the team. I love the feeling of a team that can drain threes to get back into the game at any time. I always felt we were missing that with Stinson and Blalock's teams, as good as they could be.
have you ever got caught outside In a strong rainfall? Yes or NO. If it"s yes, then you might half felt the pane of hard(tought) rain on you head. If it hurt"s then it"s tough. Yes or no. Okay I'm right and you know it.
So alothough you attempt"ed to say you didn"t understnad, now you do. Fair enough? -
Re: Any diamond in the rough in this bb class?
I was going to say, I think Buckley and Eik have been identified by the staff for a long time and they may really have a chance to shine at ISU.

Re: Any diamond in the rough in this bb class?
I'm by far the most excited about Eikmeier, as well as the possibility of a Buckley/Garrett PG rotation.

The Ames Tribune has a nice writeup about the new class. I'm the most excited about Buckley for the short-term, but I think all of them could help us during their career. Mid-Iowa Newspapers - Four signees to boost ISU's athleticism, depth -
Re: Any diamond in the rough in this bb class?
A Nebraska fan talked to me before the NU football game and told me I had no idea how good Wes E really is. He said he is a 'machine gun' from long range.
Had Tons of good things to say about him.

Harrison Barnes is the Real Deal if we land him. The boy has game.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -
Re: Any diamond in the rough in this bb class?
The interesting note i saw on CR about Justin Hamilton was all the other write ups had this paragraph about his accomplishments....Hamiltons is like two lines.....and the last sentence goes like this........
He wears a size 17 shoe........
What that tells me is this kid is still growing and i would not be at all surprised if he shows up next fall at 7'-1", watch....if this kid develops like mac thought, we might all be slappin high fives we didnt get the likes of Zeller, Morgan, Davila, Iverson, Thompson, Markolf, Moore and "SETTLED" for Hamilton...he's a project, but, i think MAC is excited about the challenge and thinks the physical tools are there....
MBB is lights out.....get Barnes and Anderson for 2010 and we'll be talking huge things not just big 12 champions.....
