I read somewhere else where they did a mock bracket of what it would liked last year, and Northern Iowa and Akron were included, so I don't think it would be all BCS teams for this tournament. At least I hope not.
I have mixed feelings on this. I love college basketball, and I would rather have ISU, UNI, or Central Michigan playing in some sort of tournament rather than no tournament at all, but I don't necessarily want to turn these postseason events into the equivalent of the the over-saturated bowl system.

i agree. i think a new tourny is a bad idea. it would be just like adding more bowl games. all it would do is give teams a chance to play in a post season when they didnt do anything to earn one. thats what makes bowl games and the NCAA tourny fun. i mean come on, who here really wants to see iowa make it to a bowl game this year? did they earn a bowl game? NO! they should be sitting at home.

Still a chance KSU, IOwa and Colorado could be bowl teams.

With what the NIT was bought out for anyone think this group is looking at doing this for a couple of years and trying to get a similar buyout? If they raise the same antitrust stink that the NIT committee don't be surprised if the NCAA throws some money at them to get them to go away.
Knownothing, I believe the term you are looking for is "March situation"... if Alford were still coaching Iowa this would provide them with more chances for a "March situation" and that can't be a bad thing. Maybe if they had this a few years ago Alford would have stuck around and we'd all be happy.
