Redshirt Freshman....
Did anyone else see the the awesome write up today in the DM register - thats right, when they put out a decent story instead of a one-sided hawkeye slant, i will also call them by their name!!!!
It talks about the redshirt freshman.....all i can say is, i'm already planning tailgating 2008!!!!! It talks about Collin Franklin at TE, Jerrod Black at Dtackle and KO (Kelechi Osemele).....
I love Black's comment........"I thought i might be able to play, But it was obvious i wasnt strong enough to play right now" i can feel the hunger in those words but, realizing he wasnt ready will give us a beast similar to Curvey in the middle for 4 years....under Mac this guy would have been on the field this year. He goes on to say this when asked what he will bring to the team next year "A lot of Agressiveness, i don't like to be rude, but, a lot of NASTINESS".....i love that...........TACKLES have to be nasty, dirty, rugged players, they get the crapped beat out of them and they need to have the mental aspect of not being pushed around....This kid will be special, i have a feeling about him!!!!!!!
Oh yeah and KO he makes a huge statement...
"I really can't wait to get in there and start competing for a job next year, the line should be better, with the young guys trying to take positions".....Awesome...competition drives people to work hard....that playing time is the incentive to drive them to work their butts off, not to mention shep don't look like he has anyone backtalking him!!!!!!! Not to just point out KO but you have big Trey(didnt know he was Pre-Vet, this guys smart WOW) and Blaes....our line will be tight for years to come....with depth......
Shep may be ISU's best hire outside of the obvious....this guy will do as much for our team long term as the coaching staff!!!!
The way Chiz is building his team reminds me of how Gable used to build his championship teams years back in wrestling, recruit the guys you want, sit the ones you can to build the body to compete at the highest level.....this is exactly what he's doing......
I cannot be more impressed - of course unless we beat that crummy bird to the southwest.....

Re: Redshirt Freshman....
Yeah I read that too. Good stuff on KO and Jerrod, both really cool guys.
“One day we’ll be in here celebrating a Big 12 championship,” Rhoads said. “That I can promise you.” -
Re: Redshirt Freshman....
I cant wait to see them play in spring ball. Those 3 should see a lot of time somehow, especially Jerrod and Collin with no starters returning at their position.

Re: Redshirt Freshman....
Are there any other redshirts besides the three?

Re: Redshirt Freshman....
Of course we have a ton of redshirt freshmen, the only ones who weren't redshirted were Cameron Bell and Phil Bates, so that leaves
OL Trey Baysinger, who was in the two deeps
DT Jerrod Black
TE Collin Franklin, who will have three years
LB Anthony Green
DE Randy Kellman
OL Joseph Klerekoper
LB Curtiz Mathis
S/LB A.J. Matthews
OL Kelechi Osemele
WR Alex Sandvig

Re: Redshirt Freshman....
Most the jucos were unable to redshirt in the first place, or a good number of them!

Re: Redshirt Freshman....
I believe Alvarez redshirted...is this correct?

Re: Redshirt Freshman....
One major concern is that there are no DBs in this group and I don't thing there are a lot of commits at this positions so far either.
-
Re: Redshirt Freshman....
I agree cycloned. We have very few DBs on the roster as well.

Re: Redshirt Freshman....
Does anyone have a link to this article?
