UNI gets vote for AP top 25
Northern Iowa, the top-ranked team in the Championship Subdivision (formerly I-AA), received one point from the media panel, a 25th-place vote from Ray Ratto of the San Francisco Chronicle.
After Appalachian State beat Michigan this season, the AP changed its policy to allow teams from all divisions to be eligible for its Top 25.
Jayhawks #2 and Tigers #3. Great game in Arrowhead next week. Times like this I wish I still lived in KC... not really.

I don't like Seeing Ohio State at number 5.
They are poised to slide into the championship game while sitting on the couch the next two weeks.
Either Kansas or Missouri will be out after next weekend.
Every conference should have a championship game.

Re: UNI gets vote for AP top 25
I think you can make an argument for UNI to be in the top 25. Their SOS is actually one better than Hawaii this year according Sagarin.

Wow, #2 vs #3 next week, that is going to be HUGE and I LOVE that is big12 north, you know the "weak" side of the big12.

I don't care what the computers say, you can't compare UNI's schedule to somebody in the WAC. Dumb vote.

It's not really an endorsement of UNI's schedule so much as a condemnation of Hawaii's.

Re: UNI gets vote for AP top 25
Is UNI as good as anybody in the top 25? no...should they maybe get votes? yes. They are quite capable of beating many D-IA teams including Iowa State and Iowa. UNI has had a helluva year and I love living in CF and getting into the "best in the state of iowa" talk. Bcuz I fully agree along with all the panthers up here who say they are the best and they could beat iowa. I am even thinking of taking the trip if they make it to the championship game again. Of course I'd wear a purple shirt with my Iowa State hat.

Re: UNI gets vote for AP top 25
I don't want to hate on UNI too much because they are having a great year but in the entire history of college football a ranked D-1A team has lost to a D-1AA team exactly once and I wouldn't take UNI against anyone in the top 30. Being the best in Iowa isn't exactly saying much this year.
That voter has probably never seen a UNI highlight, let alone an entire game.
Anyway, good luck to them in the playoffs I just think it's a bad vote.

Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -

Anyway, good luck to them in the playoffs I just think it's a bad vote. Yeah and I'd wager that Kansas' record against top 5 teams is probably pretty horrible too. It doesn't really have any bearing on the current season though. Also remember that the ranked team getting beat by a 1AA team happened this year, and the 1AA team has 2 losses in 1AA this year.
I'd put UNI up against Hawaii easily. I'm not saying they are a legit top 25 team, but you could make an argument that they could beat some of the teams up there.

Re: UNI gets vote for AP top 25
I was curious and looked at the schedules the top 5 in last week's poll. Between them all I found was three wins over D-1A schools. 11 points over 3 win ISU, 3 points over 1 win Minnesota, and 3 points over 2 win Northern Illinois.
They really are a great team in their division and should go far in the playoffs but I still think the gap is pretty large between the top teams in each division.

Re: UNI gets vote for AP top 25
There's 4, you forgot a 44-14 whipping of MAC leading, Central Michigan by NDSU. So the top 5 FCS teams are 4-0 against FBS teams (only 3 of them played FBS teams). If you include the top 6 they are 5-0 with Appy St's win at Michigan. And there were several other FCS over FBS "upsets" besides these.
