    Carr to retire Monday

It's official. Apparently Carr told the AP that he will step aside tomorrow and retire.

Carr says he will retire - Sports Illustrated

Really a good thing all the away. It just seems Carr cannot do it anymore and his timing allows Michigan to start looking for a replacement as soon as possible and give his team some extra incentive for their bowl game.

The sooner Michigan gets on it... the further Nebraska falls behind in the coaching search.

I think ESPN was talking guys like Bo Pelini (current assistant), Les Miles (Michigan grad), and Brian Kelly (Michigan Ties)

Les Miles seems like a good fit, the problem is he won't be done coaching until the second week of January more than likely.
I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everyone.

Les Miles will take it. Its his dream job. Michigan will just have to wait for a month and a half to get a new coach.

    Re: Carr to retire Monday

So that makes either Michigan or LSU out competing with Nebraska for a "big name" head coach. Where would you go if you had a choice?

    Stumbled across this:

    SI.com - NCAA Football - Carr*to announce retirement Monday - Sunday November 18, 2007 5:18PM

Other candidates might include Carolina Panthers Mike Trgovac, who played for the Wolverines and joined their coaching staff in 1984 as a graduate assistant, and Kirk Ferentz of Iowa, where University of Michigan President Mary Sue Coleman was before coming to Ann Arbor.
